BU recruit- 2013 guard Marvie Keith

Bradley is recruiting Marvie Keith, a 5'11" senior (2013) point guard from Crete-Monee High School. He is one of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in Illinois. Last year at Crete-Monee he played behind all-state point guard Michael Orris, and this season he is likely to put up much bigger numbers. He is a very quick PG who averaged 12.3 ppg and 4 assists per game as a junior, and he shoots the three extremely well (53 out of 131 last year = 40.4%).

Last year at Crete-Monee he played behind all-state point guard Michael Orris, ..

speaking of whom...Orris w- who was recruited away from his Illini commitment to then recommit to Bruce Weber at Kansas State...
he had his first action in K-State's 81-61 exhibition win over Washburn...

Orris played 5 minutes of garbage time against Washburn and went 0-0, sank two FT, and had no rebounds of assists..
Given that 11 or 12 players played ahead of him - he might consider redshirting..

also - in that game - the most impressive player of all was freshman DJ Johnson off the bench - who was leaning to SIU but then reneged and followed Chris Lowery to K-State.
Johnson had 10 pts, 7 rebs in just 17 minutes...he was also being pursued by ISU but hardly had any interest at all from above the mid-major level - he was also quite impressive on Kansas State's summer foreign exhibition tour......

Because of his (lack of) size it is unlikely that the "big boys" will come calling with official offers. This is good in that BU should be competing against mid-majors only, thus increasing our odds of landing him.

I love this kind of small guard. I always feel we can get underrated players to a Bradley level school when they are small. However, unless we have someone leave the team.(From our backcourt) I hope we don't use a scholarship on a small guard. I would rather have two bigger players. If we can't get two bigger guys then I would be OK if a guard was at least 6'3" tall so he could play alongside another smaller guard(Fields).

Nothing against this kid he looks good. Just wish we could get a balanced team.
