  • BU recruit- class of 2013- Michael Tucker

Bradley is recruiting Michael Tucker, a 6'6" forward from Covington, Georgia, Alcovy High School. He is a wing forward, who averaged 12.2 ppg and 6.2 rpg last year as a junior. He was a good shooting guard, and even played some point guard, until a growth spurt turned him into a forward for his team. He still has a nice outside touch.

Rivals said this about him after an AAU event last spring-
Mike Tucker (Southern Select): Tucker is another surprise prospect from Southern Select. The 6'6 forward made his mark on a Saturday morning game against the Upward Stars by making several 3-pointers and playing tough inside to help lead an unsuccessful comeback attempt.

He has played AAU ball with Southern Select, and is playing this season at Quality Education Academy in North Carolina.
He has had interest from Georgia and VCU.

There is not much more information available about him. He helped lead Alcovy HS into last year's Georgia state tournament. Here are a couple articles that briefly mention him.

COVINGTON, Ga. — The third quarter wasn’t the charm for Bainbridge’s Bearcats, as they lost at Alcovy, 74-65, in the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs Wednesday night, in Covington, Ga. The teams were tied at 26-26 at halftime, but Alcovy’s shooters came to life in the third quarter. The Tigers outscored Bainbridge 27-15 in […]

What I seem to able to gather from those links is that he's an under-the-rader forward with no offers presently - how does he differ from Sean O'Brien, Carter Evans, Ndahiro and others we were recruiting?

There isn't much info available on him. The coaches must like him, as I hear he is visiting this weekend.

He's gotten looks from Murray State, Georia and VCU... He can't be that bad. Both he and his teammate Justin Wallace are getting some looks from high majors and are similar players that take away from each others stats. Hopefully, the fact that we are in early gives us a good shot at him if Geno likes him.

He was a top 95 player in Georgia as a sophomore --
2013 6??™5 SG Michael Tucker Alcovy HS (GA): Good perimeter player who makes a difference on the floor, can stroke it from deep, shot the ball well coming off screens. Needs to continue to improve on ball handling skills

Michael Tucker is on Bradley's campus, he's looked good on the court, and is having a great visit.
It would be great to hear news of another commitment soon.

Has he now transferred to the Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem? The same school where Anthony Fields came from? This could help in our chances to get him since it appears we may now have a "relationship" of sorts with their coach. I'm hoping we hear something good on this kid by weeks end.

I thought Fields came from Wake Forest? Yes, he played high school/prep ball at Quality Education Academy before he went to Wake, but that would have been before Bradley even hired Geno. It's unlikely our coaches would have ever talked to any of his coaches at QEA, since we were not involved with Fields at all when he was there.

And usually when a kid transfers to one of those top-level east coast prep schools, his recruiting picks up tremendously. Hundreds of schools recruit those prep schools like QEA. And he'll have a team full of other D1 prospects, and be playing against numerous other D1 prospects, so he'll get seen even by recruiters who are there to see other kids on his team, and the teams QEA will be playing against. IMO, if we don't sign him in this coming early signing period, our chances drop significantly.

My understanding was that Fields went to his QEA coach for counsel before leaving Wake and was "delivered" to Geno and BU. I believe there is a connection with BU's staff and the QEA coach. We also had another QEA kid give us a look (can't recall his name at the moment).

We probably won't know that answer for a few months SFP. Bradley got Abell before he blew up his senior season. It's yet to be determined if:

                            1) Bradley will get Tucker, and
                            2) If Tucker blows up like Abell did.
