Carter Evans is running cross country for his high school -
the kid just completed a 5K in 21 min!
Not bad at all for a big guy..

We can do better in my opinion, looked like a project, we do not need anymore of those.

Carter Evans commits to D2 Northern State over 6 D1 offers in order to play close to home.

I think Carter will have a fine career there -- he seems like a good kid.......
I recall one other big kid who BU was after but who ended up at a D-II in Minnesota - John Smith who went on to a tremendous All American career at Winona and who would have helped us and in the end showed he might have been a pretty good D-I player and that sometimes a kid gets missed.......

Carter is 17. He is up to around 240 now. In 3 years with his coordination the sky is the limit. He would have loved a chance to play for Bradley but he went to the program that came after him hardest.

                        Whew glad here

Whew. We need dominate bigs that are ready to play. This guy went d2 and his d1 offers were from smaller schools. If he was really good he would of had big offers cause we all know big guys go higher than they should. Great job staff

Gerry - do you see that as likely to happen??..and aren't we already giving scholarships to players who are a couple years away??

                          - what Valley school has brought in big men other than the once or twice in a decade appearance of a POB or a Doug McDermott...who have been dominant right away....
so what's wrong with seeing some talent in a kid that might take a year or two to pay off??
Kids Like UNI's Adam & Jake Koch & Eglseder, Drake's Van Deest & Cox, and even ISU's Carmichael and Odiakosa all took several years to grow to their full "dominant" potential...

I'd say if we can get dominant guys - let's get them - but I kinda think we don't have such a waiting line...
and aren't we giving scholarships to Shayok and Nate Wells - who are not exactly as dominant as you say we should be looking for...

I'm not saying the same thing will happen or could happen to Carter Evans but.....
I even recall a skinny kid from a high school in Iowa a couple years back that wasn't even the best player on his team by a long shot..
and the only interest he had were the Albany's, Central Florida's, and Montana State's - and even the kid's dad who worked at Iowa State did NOT want his own son going to a big school so he helped guide the kid to UNI --

At that time - you can do the search - there was next to NOTHING anywhere being written about the kid, recruiting experts kind of ignored the kid,
and I suspect next to NOBODY thought he'd ever amount to much at the next level....
He had only ONE D-I offer until well into his senior year and only took 3 visits...!
but even then - UNI cut the kid loose not even suspecting he might be good and the kid then went to play at another mid-major - but only because his own father was the head coach there....

That kid is a preseason 1st Team All American as we speak...who'da thunk it......

                              I agree

I can guarantee you this having seen him play that he will be no McDermott. Not even close..this will be the only time both of these guys names are mentioned in the same article.

+1. gerry knows his high school ballers. I have no reason to doubt him over others who are simply amateur evaluators. Thanks for your input gerry!
