A followup on ex-BU recruit Matej Buovac...who has only played 22 minutes total in the past two months.
...like his Croatian buddy Mislav Brzoja - (who has yet to score in 14 games & miniscule minutes played and is 0-5 overall and 0-4 from 3-pt) he isn't playing much at all this season and it's too late to redshirt.
..and although his team, New Mexico State was playing poorly early on and started at 6-8, they have gone 12-1 since with MB mostly doing bench-duty, including a 12-game winning streak!
During that pretty hot streak, Buovac hasn't spent much time with his warmups off.......
Since Jan. 5, he's only appeared in four games, and two of them he logged one minute, and the other two he got 2 minutes.
He has only made two baskets since Dec. 22 and hasn't made a 3-pointer since his first game of the season.
This column discusses the recent philosophy of playing time at NMSU...

one more followup - Matej Buovac was a high priority here and would have played and had a chance to show his shooting ability..
instead at New Mexico State - not so much...
New Mexico State finishes 22-10 prob good enough for NIT but Matej Buovac did play 2 min today
In the end he played in only 10 games all year usually only 1-2 min each..
he scored in only 3 games and scored more than a single bucket in only 2
so he spends a year playing a total of 38 minutes and scoring 12 pts - he had NO assists, NO blocks, NO steals, and 5 rebs - but did hit 50% of his shots
My guess is his scholarship could open up and he will look elsewhere..so he might become available??
The other Croatian kid had even less chance to play at Villanova...he scored only 2 pts all year
...it is common for the Euro shooting guards to have trouble adjusting to Division play, and there are very few examples of them producing right away.

yeah - very, very few - and that article is already a couple years old and there are not a lot of example since, either......
...the rest are pretty obscure or didn't pan out..and the only ones who did were the guys like Harris & Len who were not SG's but who made it because of their size
But if they do have some talent they should be aiming at the mid-major and below...because guys like Brzoja at Villanova - is gonna sit a long time and maybe never play

Elias Harris was definitely not a typical Euro recruit. He was an American citizen with a basketball pedigree, and he was fairly highly recruited. Len was also highly recruited. But it is interesting how forgettable most of the names in that article are. It is rare for the Euro kids, especially guards, to have success in Division I college.l
