BU recruit- class of 2013- Kendall Pollard

per Rivals' high school basketball recruiting site here are a few visits happening this weekend...

- Lance Whittaker - visiting Cal-Davis

- Kendall Pollard (official) and Kyle Kuzma (unofficial) are visiting Dayton

- Austin Colbert (official) is visiting Illinois

- Jaylon Tate (official) is visiting Ohio

- Peyton Allen - visiting Saint Louis

- Ron Patterson (official), ex- IU commit is visiting Xavier

Maybe when he hears more he'll rethink going 1000 miles to play at Rhode Island...?
I have no beef with URI - they are probably a good school trying to land good talent but I will present my case that Bradley is FAR superior!

They just lost 8 players - and brought in a bunch - so almost everyone is new and is gonna be there for a while - so Kendall will be playing behind those guys that are Hurley's first recrtuting class for years to come...
They are rebuilding like BU is but were and are perhaps an even weaker team.

One of the guys they lost was their best returning player who was arrested & booted for some pretty perverted behavior..
...but on top of that they already just got commitments from a Top 100 guard and a small fwd - even more talent that KP's gonna be playing behind.

BUT - here's the best part - and I hope KP is listening - their average attendance is barely a quiet 3000, but some of their games draw a sparse 2700 - and even some of the CONFERENCE games against nearby rivals don't even draw 3000!
A couple years ago when they were winning and hosted a Big Ten team in the NIT they still drew way under 3000.

Even their own fans are bummed at the home attendance - here's a post on their message board about their FIFTEEN home games last year and ONLY ONE of them drew more than around 50% occupancy in their 7000 seat arena!
Much of the time their arena is only 35% to 45% full (assuming all those seats had butts in them and I severely doubt it)
In fact - if you exclude their one home game vs. Providence where most of the fans were actually fans of the opponent team - then their home attendance average drops to around 3K.

Note the HUGE swath of empty seats that show fan apathy - these are the premier seats RIGHT BEHIND THE HOME TEAM BENCH!
...you will NEVER see this at Bradley or anywhere in the Valley (except ISU)

Pollard was visited in his home tonight by Larry Eustachy (Colorado State). He also has an official visit planned to Rhode Island this weekend.

There is an article on the premium Tulsa site saying Kendall Pollard has cut his list to five schools

"Chicago (Ill.) Simeon small forward Kendall Pollard plays in one of the most talent-rich areas
of the country and is finally starting to see his recruitment take off.
The 6-foot-5 athletic wing has double-digit scholarship offers, but has narrowed down his choices
to five schools as he prepares to make a commitment by the early November signing period.

Pollard.....has a final five of Virginia Tech, Colorado State, Rhode Island, Dayton, and Tulsa. All five have offered."

of course it is always possible he has changed his mind and opened up to other options - but this is what the article says..
Pollard details what criteria is using in his choices...
"relationship with each coaching staff....immediate playing time......the location....
..........will be the biggest factors in his decision."

can someone clear up something for me...

the initial post in this thread is back in September 21011...and at that time we were on Pollard,
he visited Bradley, Willie was in contact and going to see him...and we had offered ......
then even up to the end of the 2011-2012 school year Pollard still listed his Bradley offer...
then all of a sudden we are NOT following him and all his interviews the past 3-4 months say he's narrowed his list and is NOT considering Bradley and/or that Bradley is not considering him...

Then only in late September we re-enter the Pollard-sweepstakes and start making "a late push"??

OK - then the $64,000 question - why did we drop off him for the better part of the last 4 months?

I think it was Pollard who made that decision. Likely he was expecting high major offers, and now is back open to schools like Bradley, Dayton, Rhode Island, etc. Maybe he realizes the opportunity for immediate playing time is worth considering, and maybe is has something to do with our new assistant coach's connections.

I'm hoping this was a misstatement (though I was just told it is not :( ). Dayton is a great place to play ball. Their fans and atmosphere remind me of Duke's.

Done

Done

Got in too late on him. But maybe good news before next
Monday hopefully
