  • Jonathon Wilkins- 2014 recruit

The younger brother of John Wilkins, Jonathon Wilkins...

is being reported to be enrolling at La Lumiere Academy...

Now that two different recruiting sites in Indiana now have those reports...
    "ScoutingIndiana.com" and "TheHoopsWindow.com"
.. I think we can discuss what has been previously kept pretty quiet and secret but has been in the works for several months....

Jonathon is a 6-10 or 6-11 post prospect who will be Class of 2013.
he is desribed as thin, athletic, raw.......
he has been playing with BC Cointe in Belgium

BTW -- numerous top prospects, and 4-Star & 5-star recruits are already at La Lumiere - Bobo Drummond, Hanner Perea, Obij Aget, and Purdue recruits Jay Simpson & Raphael Davis -- and it's rumored that also TOP Purdue recruit Kendall Stephens also leaning towards going there...
they will have possibly seven or more top D-I recruits...

      Tornado,

Any idea why so many kids want to play there? Are some of them potential academic non-qualifiers? Does Purdue just want to keep a close tab on them?

It just seems like they are giong into situations where they are giong to be hard pressed to get starter minutes, although they will face much better competition than they would otherwise face.

It is the same phenomenon I think as LeBron, DWade, & Bosh to Miami --
they want to play with others who also draw top recruiters and they don't mind having a stacked team in regards to winning percentages.

Time will tell -- but as I have pointed out elsewhere - La Lumiere has yet to put a single kid at the D-I level of any significance....and of all the top 4-Star & 5-Star kids their coach has had since he came onto the scene in 2005, none have had much impact at the next level...but now they are so loaded that surely some of those kids should be impact players....I would certainly think Stephens & Simpson will under Painter.

Jonathon Wilkins is now enrolled at La Lumiere prep school in LaPorte, Indiana. He is a sophomore there. La Lumiere is loaded with D1 talent, including Bobo Drummond, who previously played for Peoria Central and is committed to SIU. Jonathan is 7' tall and developing good skills. Bradley has scouted him and they might offer soon.

New coach, new start. Hopefully this will work out beneficially with regards to Wilkins part 2. Welcome back, Jeff and Flash.

                  Jeff Wilkins.

Without sounding like "one of those guys," Flash is a friend of mine. The young Wilkins lads, unlike some teens, listen to their father's advice knowing he's had the experience of college basketball and the NBA. I'm not saying Jeff is making the decision but let's hope he still feels good about Bradley.

So are you saying there was a clash between Flash and Les? Or was Wilkins hesitant about coming to BU because of the hot seat that Les was on?

Feel free to PM me the answer if you'd rather not disclose. Thanks BSSFan#1.

I'm not going to disclose a lot but I will say Flash harbors no ill will as he's smart enough to know this is business at this level and he doesn't burn bridges.

I will say that the elgibility ruling (or inelgibility ruling) did more harm to Bradley than anything.

It was no surprise that Flash was there front and center..he is the key to the young Wilkins...Geno talked to him numerous times last night. Lets hope for the best here.

Let's face it basketball wise BU is in a much better position going forward then ISU when it comes to realignment. The only thing that ISU has over us is a football team and they are not big enough to be able to leverage that to make a difference. This comment has nothing to do with W-L record recently but everything to do with economics.

It had nothing to do with JL being on the hot seat but everything to do with JL and Flash. Flash was at just about every BU game last year until around the 1st of FEB. Then he was a no show the rest of the season. Good to see him back.He could be a big help.

I have talked to Flash about what happened. Right up until JW committed to ISU, Flash was pushing for the Wilkins to come to Bradley. "Other factors" took over and influenced his decision.
