  • BU recruit-class of 2012- Jeff White

2012 Peoria Manual star point guard Jeff White was a visitor on the Bradley campus today (Tues 6/29). He really liked Bradley, and he received a scholarship offer from Coach Geno Ford before leaving.
Jeff toured the BU facilities and had a chance to scrimmage with some of the BU players. He is the type of point guard who Geno likes and who would fit perfectly into Coach Ford's system.

I have watched Keke and his teammates play many times and they are intense and skilled -- they would be an asset to BU
..his teammate Jacoby Roddy just got an offer from Wright State

If BU can have any level of success on the court in 2011-12 (beyond generally expected lower half finish) I'll go out on a limb and say we will all be amazed at GF's future recruiting committments!!!

It would be great to have Jeff come aboard and experience more team success at BU than his father, Charles, did. Man, Charles was one of the few bright spots on some awful, awful Bradley teams. An outstanding defender.

Nice piece on Jeff from a while back:

BTW -- also visiting yesterday with Jeff White was his brother, Darian White who just finished up his career at Central.. - video - longer video
Darian is currently enrolled at Triton College and is going the juco route but remains a BU target...
btw-- this morning the PJS also mentions the offers...as does ChicagoHoops and Illinois Prep Bullseye

BTW - a third player on that Manual team, Landis Farmer, is a very good PG and will be getting some offers.
He is small and I am sure that's what's held back the offers to this point, but he's reminiscent of DJ Cooper -- he can get things done.
...if you can stand the background music -- here's some video -

              Jeff White

I watched Jeff's father play for 4 years. If he has the same level of intensity that his dad did, he could be a great addition. I hope that Geno can continue the local recruiting and get at least 1 or 2 Peoria area players each year. Bisping and Taphorn would be great local additions.

On a related issue, if we get 3-4 commitments for next year, where do we get more than 2 scholarships? Thompson is definitely a senior, but TB's situation is unsettled and WE will be back next year. Even if TB does NOT get an extra year, I can only count 2 scholarships available for 2012.

The early signs appear to be very good about Geno's recruiting enthusiasm. I want to see Geno as a floor coach before I will jump on board with your statement.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Egolf would likely get a 6th year but Thompson & TB are finishing out their eligibility and so we will have two open scholarships plus any more that might result from a player leaving - which happens virtually every year.

Prepare to be stunned. I do not believe he will even seek it (for personal and practical reasons). TB's first redshirt year was not due to injury, so he does not meet the NCAA requirements for a 6th year waiver.

After Bryson didn't get another year at ISU, I have learned to NEVER expect a 6th year being granted (even with a Sam Singh/Egolf situation). Obviously two injuries (SS/WE) are different then one and sitting out a year as a Prop 48 (Bryson) but TB's situation is very similar to Bryson's...

                            Agree to disagree I guess.

I am sure there will be someone out there to do the research and prove me wrong but how many times has the NCAA granted a 6th year, when there were not TWO injuries?
