  • BU recruit- class of 2011- Malcolm Herron

Bradley is looking at Malcolm Herron, a 6'4" streak-shooting guard from Western Texas CC. He verbally commmitted to UAB before the season, but then decommitted.
He is also being recruited by TCU.

He was ranked the #58 best juco player prior to the season by JucoJunction.com-

And he is #53 by Jucorecruiting.com, ahead of several other MVC recruits at #58, #64, #66, and #68-
    http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...www.google.com

He is originally from Downers Grove South HS-
Thank you so much for Eric Peterson’s story, “Left without a home.” The story broke my heart and gave me continued empathy for those who just need a little extra “hand up” and not a “hand...

This JC recruit may actually make more sense than bringing in another freshman. We already have 4 freshmen in the current class (DS, JC, DH, NW), although it appears NW will redshirt. IMO, if Coach Ford wants to keep the classes somewhat balanced, this would be the right direction to go.

Some other posters are excited about him and say "He shot 45 % from 3 this past season". That is something we could use.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Biff, don't believe everything you see. That stat is wrong, someone has things a little mixed up.

Here are his stats from this past season-

Those 2010-2011 stats appear somewhat incomplete, but obviously, his shooting percentage was nowhere near that good this season.
According to those stats from the NJCAA, he averaged 9.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 25% from three this past year.

His stats from the previous season were better-

In 2009-2010 he averaged 11.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, and 45% from three.

I did hear that observers at Tuesday's shootaround were impressed that he can shoot the ball. But no offer was extended yet.

            Ford knows talent

Evidently Geno Ford knows talent...he has gone after young talent with the Taphorn offer..and the guys that have come on campus and left without offers have all signed with lower offers from other d1 schools...herron is another one..then Early with SIU, which most consider not on the same level as the 2011 Bradley Braves...then get Shayok which Texas Tech wanted..and Crawford which a lot of schools wanted and then landed Hodges which could be a real sleeper...His eye for talent is second to none.

This seems spot on...I hope this proves to be right, and I am very optimistic that it will be.
