I don't remember this early of a commit before, either.
Has Bradley ever gotten a commit 2 years early?
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."
And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

The earliest committ I can remember in recent memory was Jeremy Crouch. He verballed to BU during his junior year. There were worries over the summer that he may opt for Wisconsin or Northwestern, as they were showing heavy interest during the AAU season. JC stayed true to his word though, and will be showing everyone this year that he has been worth the wait.
Daniel West ???‚¬??? West has come a million miles over the past 12 months. He was just an OK to above average on the Saginaw JV team a year ago. Now he???‚¬?„?s dynamite in the open floor handling the ball and making moves on defenders, leaving them wondering what he???‚¬?„?s up to next. He???‚¬?„?s getting closer to his old man (Daniel Sr. formerly CMU guard) and now he just needs to slow down and heed the advice of legendary UCLA coach John Wooden. "Play quickly but not in a hurry!" Will be a mid D-1 guy at some level.
Danny West is a big time prospect.
He is a relatively unknown kid outside of Michigan, but everyone up here knows about him. In another 6 months he would have been getting attention from Big Ten, and other majors. He is young and still likely to grow. I am surprised he committed early. This is a major "get" for Jim Les.
How strong is his word? Should BU be worried about him de-committing before November of next year?
He has never de-committed previously!
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???
Scout of course doesn't have him listed yet (hopefully they will soon, it took them about a month to recognize Will Egolf was a real person), but Rivals does.
Likely Lewis Jackson is already flying above Bradley's radar.
And I searched exhaustively for Daniel West on the Rivals site, even checking to see if they might have had him incorrectly classified, but he was not there as of about 11AM.
So Rivals much have just gotten word of his verbal and did some calling to get this spot up.
Scout.com has updated their coverage of BU today. They've added Daniel West to their database, upgraded Will Egolf to a 2-star recruit, acknowledged Anthony Thompson's verbal, and listed BU among the schools recruiting Nick Fruendt. They've also written an article talking about BU's recent recruiting successes. Kudos to Scout.com for paying attention to BU when good things are happening to them.
Good Job goes out to the staff for making the Braves a place kids want to come and play ball and get a top notch education! He sounds like a good get and even though it's 2 years away and alot can happen........I am happy with this news!
Now........surprise me with the BIG we need for next year!

I've noticed the fact that they like the small class sizes as being a theme among the kids we are recruiting. They must really be pushing that to the kids in their recruiting pitch. To continue to get the top notch players they are going to need to use every tool available to them.
I keep hearing from JL that the Sweet 16 is getting us into see kids we never had a chance for before.....hate to be a negative nelly but this kid (who may be a steal) seems like the same ole same ole (NOT that there is anything wrong with that).
I guess we (JL/BU) still has to "project" talent and grab em before they get looks from BCS types but I keep waiting for that recruit that spurns Florida, Wake, UConn, etc.
I'm not bashing JL...you guys know my "record". I just keep thinking back to the Memphis game and the difference in athletes between BU and MU. Boogie was the only guy that could match em and he was 3-4 inches to short and about 35 lbs too light.
I realize he is only ONE part of a team but when we go up against the MSU's and IOWA State's and their 6'5" guards can we handle them.
Tell me how my thinking is flawed...I'm just "thinking" out loud.
Sorry if this disappoints you Dogs, but I don't think Bradley will ever be able to go after top 100 recruits and beat out the Floridas, UConns, and Wakes. The higher visability Bradley has gotten, might get those kids to answer the phone or return calls, but I don't think Jim Les or anyone can expect us to go head-to-head and beat out Top 30 programs. Maybe we can occasionally beat out SMU or Texas A&M (Thompson) or beat out other lower majors, or upper mids. But the best shot we have at the super prospects will always be to outwork the BCS-type schools and get kids who project higher like POB, AT, etc.
Don't shrug your shoulders with your head down and think... we are just Bradley in the MVC.
Last season:
We lost at Wichita St in OT by 2. We beat Wichita St 60-52 in the MVC tourney. Wichita St hosted and lost to George Mason (Final 4) by 3.
We beat Creighton 86-69 at home and let a chance slip by on the road losing 80-76. We then beat CU 54-47 in the MVC tourney. Creighton had beaten George Mason (Final 4) on the road 72-52.
We beat UNI at home in OT 68-60 early in the year and pounded them late in the season on the road 71-49. They beat LSU (Final 4) on the road.
So we didn't match up well with Memphis. Heck - did we really match up all that well with Kansas? We played good but not great against Memphis. Memphis played a great game. You watch that game again... you watch how the players for Memphis played their acorns out til the very end (my attempt at a 'squirrel' reference, since it might become the mascot - against my desire). Memphis didn't think the game was decided after 4 minutes - sure, they had a lead but they played hard til the very end. They then left a goose egg against UCLA. If they play like that against us, we would have beat them.
