A one-time Bradley recruit for 2012, Michael Orris of Crete-Monee committed to Creighton back on 5/2/11. Since then he has impressed at several events. Also, just yesterday, his high school coach was fired.
Last night Orris decided to back out of his verbal commitment to Creighton, and reopen his recruitment-

This is very interesting -- as Orris was a very good recruit, being pursued and offered by Bruce Weber, that was predicted by many Creighton fans to be a starter from his freshman year!
but there's obviously a little more behind these headlines...

I have seen Orris play, and the best comparison I can give is that he is similar to Sam Maniscalco. He is a pass-first point guard who sees the floor well, runs a team well, and is a good shooter. Bruce Weber really likes him, and has been recruiting him for a long time. Weber apparently was surprised by Orris' early commitment to Creighton. I expect to see Illinois continue to recruit the kid, and I think that is where he will end up.

and James just committed today!
can't decide who is better Tate or James....but I think they are both preferred over Orris now.

Jalen James is a 2013 recruit. Rivals and several other sites confirm that he committed to Illinois.
I think Illinois might still go after Orris, who is a class of 2012, and the Illinois will need another PG next year after Sammy leaves. I also wouldn't be surprised if Weber might still pursue Jaylon Tate, who can play both guard positions.

There's a new premium article that talks a little about Orris now that he's back on the AAU scene and has re-opened his recruiting...
and it's not all positive as I am sure Michael Orris might have wanted...
First the observer was complimentary of Orris' play as they always are in recruiting articles, but he quesitoned whether Orris has BCS or Big Ten abilities...
and when Orris was asked who he's hearing from now that he's back on the market -- the only two schools he says have come after him are William & Mary & UIC...(also Drake & Green Bay have called)
....Remember -- University of Illinois was interested in him...
there are reports that Jerrance Howard was following him again today.

I saw Orris play once this season. He's long and effective but lacks great athelitic ability. The Valley is probably a good fit for him. I thought the Illini offereing him was a bit of a stretch.
He played also side 2 D-I signees, (DePaul and Green Bay) so expect his points per game to go up next year while his team's success will likely drop off."But instead lets just hate while their MBB and WBB programs play blackjack against BU. Twenty-One in a row, seven by the Men & 14 by their women." ~NSBF

Followup on one time 2012 Bradley recruit Michael Orris of Crete-Monee HS-
Orris initially committed verbally to Creighton after his junior year, but then reneged on that commitment and eventually signed with Bruce Weber at Illinois. After Weber was fired, Orris was released from his commitment to Illinois, and eventually landed at Kansas State, again under Bruce Weber.
After spending his freshman season at Kansas State buried deep on the bench and likely to be recruited over, he has decided to leave. He played in less than half their games (15), and averaged only 3 minutes a game. He scored a total of 4 points on the season, for an average of 0.3 ppg.

Just another case of going higher than he should have. I've not seen him play but know two officials who worked him at Crete. Neither were impressed and said we were lucky, as was Creighton that he didn't come here or go to CU. KS was way over his head. Don't understand why marginable kids chose to go higher if they aren't willing to sit on the bench and enjoy the ride. Looks like Max at Michigan will fall into this category.

Although it has apparently not been previously noted - this blurb from NIU seems to say that Michael Orris will be immediately eligible..as it says the other guards on the roster this year will be battling Orris for playing time.
NIU has become a bit of a Transfer U.... with Michael Orris from Kansas State, Jordan Threloff from Illinois State (did get a waiver to play immed.), Aaron Armstead who started at Green Bay, and Anthony Johnson from Purdue..plus one transfer from Sacramento State.
BTW - this MVC preview seems to think ISU's Dan Muller is just now in 1st year there..
