Les has seen him play a number of times as his son Tyler played at Notre Dame last year, he is no secret, I just think he indicated to BU that he preferred to go away to school.

No offer by BU. No serious attempt to recruit since the summer.

I'd have to believe if we wanted him and he wanted to play for BU something would have been worked out, plain and simple. I'd have to believe he wants to get out of Dodge.

BTW...How is Tyler Les doing at UC Davis? We could have used another 3 point shooter!

Tyler hadn't played much until last night. UC Davis' game last night was against an 0-4 Division II school Notre Dame de Namur. Tyler played 19 minutes, was 4-5 from three, and scored 12 points.

In the previous 8 games, Tyler had seen brief action in 7 of them, but had only scored 4 points total.
          Season stats-

UC Davis' next game is 12/13 at UCLA.

Ya I said last year we could use him as you can never have enough 3 point shooters, but nobody seemed to want him. It'd be nice to see 4-5 from 3 from anybody on this team this year, even if it is a DII school they played.

The writer (Stewart) lost ALL credibility with this quote -- "... And with what I??™ve seen on the Hilltop so far, Bielfeldt might be the best forward in Peoria right now."

BU needs to try to land this kid...he is a very fine shooter and has D-I talent....someone's going to get him..I thought the same once before about the kid below...

Another kid that I know BU was looking at but passed on - because I happened to be sitting right next to one of the BU coaches at a certain summer event - a couple years ago -- and actually heard him asking about the kid...
                  Was Proviso's Robert Covington...
who ended up going to Tennessee State...and had a dearth of offers otherwise...
Covington is now a sophomore at TSU -- and has been a starter since day 1...
He averaged 12 ppg as a freshman, then 14 ppg as a soph..and his rebound numbers....7 rpg as a frosh, 9 rpg as a soph...

Tremendous player. I had a chance to see him when they came to RBA a few weeks ago. TSU has a lot of great talent, but their depth is non-existent.

I played baseball at Lincoln College with Nelson's dad Jeff. He also played basketball at Lincoln College and he was a stud at everything he did. Old ISU fans will remember Reggie Wilson, Nelson played with him at Lincoln College. Jeff also played baseball at EIU.

It is not a surprise that Jordan is as good as he is. Jeff played at Lincoln High School in the mid 80's and his teams went head to head with Manual when Manual had Jamere Jackson, David Booth, Lynn Collins.

I do not even need to see Nelson play to know he is likely an awesome athlete and probably is big time good on the court.

Lincoln high school has had a very good history of having well coached teams, Duncan Reid, Loren Wallace to name a few built that program up and they always play against good competition, I say go after this kid.

We should recruit more kids like Nelson. WE put to much on kids who can run and jump and not enough on kids who can flat out shoot the ball. Lord knows we need shooters.Hope he hangs around till this spring when we may have some openings.

I think the requirement for athleticism has a more pronounced effect on what kind of bigs we get (as opposed to guards). I don't think Les will sign or tolerate slow big men (Heemskerk is an example, and I believe the last of Mo's recruits) which is why we never seem to have those sort of average serviceable bigs that other Valley teams seem to have. In my world, it's not that Les doesn't like the bigs or is married to a 4-guard set, it's that he wants the kind of bigs who usually end up at power programs. I think it's an area of improvement for him as a coach -- it's adapting your approach to available talent and the situation that marks a great coaching performance.

I think it is more of a developing the bigs problem, tired of hearing the weight issues as far as our guys need more weight and strength, Oakland plays Illinois tonight and their center Benson was fairly thin 2 years ago when he put big numbers as far as rebounding and scoring against us in the game Chris made the 75 ft. shot to win, how about our guys need better footwork and toughness inside.
