Jershon Cobb- another 2010 BU recruit off the board

Jershon Cobb is another of the 2010 wing players Bradley was recruiting. Last night, he committed to Northwestern.
Cobb is a 6'4" wing player from Decatur, Georgia (near Atlanta).
He had a campus to Bradley visit planned in October, but will not be making it. He chose Northwestern over Cincinnati, Bradley, East Carolina, Auburn and Boston College.

hmmm...he is a very similar player to Drew Crawford that Northwestern beat out Bradley for, and even a bit like Nick Fruendt who Northwestern also beat out BU for. As always it's tough to beat Big Ten offers....

I don't get it....Cobb's an athletic, high scoring wing....but actually, perhaps, even just a bit undersized for the Big Ten...
and even has said he wanted to go somewhere that the style of play would allow him to be a scorer!

Come on, Jershon...do you know a thing about Northwestern's slow, boring style of play that NOBODY becomes a scorer?
And they have never, repeat NEVER been to the NCAA....so I just don't get it...you are a 4-Star kid, you could have been a stud in the Valley....the next NBA bound player out of the MVC!
Oh well....sometimes you just can't figure these things out.
they even have a few similar kids ahead of you...you may just be sitting the bench!!

Maybe...but I would have my doubts that most 4-Star recruits are thinking academics when they choose...
I would suspect most are thinking playing time, opportunity to develop and star, and chance of playing in the NCAA, being a champion, being coached by an NBA player and getting built into a potential NBA player, and getting to the NBA.
In the end, statistics show that as many as 35% of kids commit, then are disappointed and leave, transferring elsewhere.
If 1/3 of all the decisions I made are subsequently regretted and changed, I'd be in a real mess.....so I just wonder why the kids blow their choices so incredibly often ...why not think a little more reasonably and aim at the proper level, maybe a little lower once in a while....just a thought...

Also...I am not so sure a kid at BU would generally get any less of a GOOD education than a kid at Northwestern...but even Bradley has Northwestern beat in every one of those other criteria!

No Northwestern player in the Jim Les era has played in the NBA...
and no guard from Northwestern has played in the NBA since Billy McKinney, who graduated from Northwestern in 1977!!!!!!!!!
In that interval...Bradley has had eleven players play in the NBA including a few great guards (Hersey, Jim, AP, Phegley, etc..)

I haven't read all his stuff- but not every kid wants to be in the NBA- Some want a chance to play- get a good degree and get on with living life...

I am a BU grad and not belittling my degree- but different people want different things... He chose Northwestern so good luck Jershon...
