  • BU recruit- class of 2011- Jacob Williams

Jacob Williams is a 6'5" wing guard/forward from Chicago St. Patrick's HS, the same high school that produced Sam Maniscalco, and another former BU player Chris Mroz. Bradley has been following him for the past year, but it is now being reported that he has received a scholarship offer from Bradley. He plays for the Illinois Wolves, the same team Sam played for. Sam's dad, Carl is an assistant coach with the Wolves. Jacob has been compared to Evan Turner from a couple years ago.-

He'd be smart to just choose from his offers in alphabetical order

he went to their elite camp, as Illinois Wolves coach Mike Mullins told us Friday

but Xavier just yesterday landed a verbal from a Top 100 wing player, so that might cause Jacob to rethink XU

Class of 2011 Chicago St. Patrick star Jacob Williams of the Illinois Wolves is in the midst of a strong junior season on the basketball court. Williams has solidified his position as one of the top prospects in a loaded Illinois Class of 2011. Williams, a 6'5" small forward, is a player who excels with his overall versatility on the basketball court. Williams has played very strong this year as a junior, and leads St. Patrick with a scoring average of 17 points per contest. Butler, Xavier, Miami, Illinois, DePaul, Southern Illinois, Southern Methodist, Bradley, Fairfield, Loyola, Creighton and Siena are all among the long line of programs that are currently recruiting Williams. Williams has bonded extremely well with the coaches at Xavier and Butler. "The coaches at Xavier and Butler are really good coaches. I talk to them more than the coaches at other schools. They are always really cool and easy to relate to," said Williams. Williams also notes that playing time and academics will both be strong factors in his recruitment.

Ding ding ding we have a winner. I love kids who say they look at academics as well as BU usually has an edge over most other schools. Also the time DSE is getting this year should really show recruits if you're ready you'll get your shot.

With AW and DD leaving after next year there should be room for a quality freshman to see some court time.

I don't know what our chances are with this guy, but the longer it goes without him commiting somewhere else and us not getting another guard, the more interested I am in him. He is my first choice to play with WL,DSE,DS as a big guard. I would love to get him and Donivine in this years class.
