One of the top players in the Houston area and the state of Texas is 2010 combo guard Jamel Outler from Bellaire High School.
"I have offers from Texas A&M and TCU," he said. "I'm also being recruited by LSU, Gonzaga, Arizona State, Bradley, Wichita State, Tulsa and a bunch of others. I don't have my list with me right now."
Outler, who was a first-team all-district selection as a sophomore, has the total package and is rated as the No. 14 player in Texas by TexasHoops.com and the No. 7 player in the state by TexasPhenomReport.com.
"I averaged 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists last year," he added. "I'm really a combo guard and guess my strengths are my jump shot and my pull-up game. I'm really athletic and play above the rim."
Outler is somewhat modest, as he's a sharpshooter from three-point range and gets great elevation on his jumper. He's also known as a slasher who can finish in traffic. With his quickness and long arms, he excels on defense and has the ability to get his hands on the basketball for deflections or steals.
