  • Not a Full second, but Full of Great Moments

O.k. - I wanted to check to see what these last second game-winning shots have in common for BU.

    All home games? Nope
All made by BU greats? Nope
All have Lemon and Eastman involved? Nope

So what exactly is it then?

Well, after witnessing Saturday's awesome ending at UIC, I took on the task of reviewing the video clips of the Lemon dash n drop vs. Missouri State, that magical time of .9 seconds presented itself again!

So let's recap where we've seen 0.9 seconds as a flash in recent BU history:

March, 2009 - Chris Roberts gets the inbounds pass with .9 seconds from Theron and in a desperation launch from 75-feet, he banks in perhaps the greatest shot in BU history.

Jan, 2013 - Walt Lemon Jr. takes the ball from one end to the other in a flash. He weaves through the defenders and frees himself up, soars from beyond the 3-point line, releases the ball with .9 seconds left (or maybe 0.8, though I couldn't freeze it to show 0.8 ) and kisses it off the backboard for a 3 at the buzzer.

Feb, 2013 - Our latest rendition of thrilling finishes, as Shayok picks up the loose change, dishes back to Walt, who drives into the paint, and finds an open Jake Eastman for a lay-up off the glass with .9 seconds left. Not enough time, or the awareness, or TOUCH, to pull off a CR miracle.

Did you catch the other commonality among all 3 plays?

Bank, bank, bank...and you can take that to the bank that 1 second is MORE than enough time to make a miracle happen for the BU faithful.

These moments will live on, as WE have during these past few trying years in BU history. Thank God for them, as well as the Sweet 16 run, as we can still smile amidst the not-so-joyous memories that we've endured.
