  • Another year of BCS Football Wretchedness?

    I hope so

Go East Carolina!!! The CUSA team knocked off two ranked teams the last two weeks (Va Tech and West Va) and is now ranked 14th in the AP poll and 20 in the USA Today poll. Besides the CUSA conference games, East Carolina will also play NC State and Virginia ... two below average BCS teams that the Pirates should beat.

I love college football and and I love it when the BCS system gets whacked around. Div 1 college football needs to follow the lead of the other college football divisions and put in a playoff to decide the national champ. If you hate the BCS, be sure to cheer on East Carolina!

Personally they deserve right now to be in the top 3 not 14 and even if they were to run the table there is no way no how never ever that ECU would be allowed to play in the National Championship game.

It is pretty *****ic that voters and polls control college football, not necassarily the outcomes on the field. Heck there probably are voters who believe Michigan should be given votes because well they are Michigan.

The BCS is perhaps the most overt example that the NCAA has little, to no, control of the major schools. If you look up BCS in Wikipedia, you'll find the following:

"The BCS was created by formal agreement among the six "major" conferences, and has evolved to allow other "mid-major" conferences to participate. It is not formally recognized by the NCAA as a collegiate championship."

Pretty clear who is in charge ... the six "major" conferences and the money interests that run them. Very sad for college athletics...

BCS system as it stands now is a flawed system.

FCS football is all inclusive of it's membership (for the most part)

FBS football championship favors the "so called BCS" and the rest are after thoughts.

THe BCS is the most ignorant, special interrest,(schools with money) self serving farce that has ever been pushed down the throat of the general sports enthusiast.

I'm fine with bowl games lets get back to the 5 or 6 or 7 like back in the day. Not the current 30 bowl games.
