Is this a bizarre story or what?

Black Americans are "disappearing" from baseball.

Example: The St. Louis Cardinals have no Black American players on their major league roster, AND virtually NONE in their entire farm system.
Blacks make up only 8% on the major leagues, well under 1/2 of the figure for the 1950's, and way under the 30% figure for the 70's.

    What's the cause?
Disinterest in baseball at the youth level?

The statement above said that "the St. Louis Cardinals have no Black American players on their major league roster"

Luna is from the Dominican Republic.
Timo Perez is from the Dominican Republic.
Rodriguez was born in NYC, but MLB, in their own report on minorities in baseball, classifies him as a Latino player not a black. Luna and Perez are also classified as Latinos, not blacks. Go figure.
