  • Brett Favre traded to NY Jets

Just announced- Brett Favre has been traded to the NY Jets.--
Breaking News, data & opinions in business, sports, entertainment, travel, lifestyle, plus much more. Newsday.com is the leading news source for Long Island & NYC.

The NY Jets out bid the Tampa Bay Bucs for Favre. Details still pending at this time who the other players are that are involvedin the trade.

If you are a Bears fan, this has to make you happy. Favre leaves the Packers, and that makes them a really poor team. He doesn't go to any other team in the Bear's division, either.

This is almost as bad as seeing Jordan in a Wizards jersey. O well...Lebron is next.

As a Packer fan and a Favre fan.......I am glad that the drama is over and the team can move on, but when Favre goes into the Hall of Fame...part of me hopes he goes in as a Jet!!

I have to disagree with that statement. Green Bay is still the best team in that division IMO. Maybe Minnesota can challenge them, but I'd take Aaron Rodgers over Tavaris Jackson in a heartbeat.

I am a Viking fan and I agree with you Scouter.... The Pack are still the team to beat in that division.

As an NFL fan, I hated to see Favre go to the Jets. What I like to see, and it is becoming rarer at an increasing rate, is a player retire having played for one team. Even though I am not a Bears fan, I respect the fact that a player like Walter Payton retired as a Bear.

Unitas played his last years as a Charger.

                Montana- Chiefs
                Favre- Jets

All these will be answers to trivia questions in future years.imo

I was a Baltimore Colt fan growing up and I remeber Unitis going to the Charger. It was a funny site seeing him wear their uniform. I suspect the same thing with Favre and history repeating itself. If BF takes them to the playoffs I'd be real suprise.

The last 8 games the Bears were 6-2 against Green Bay. He's washed up, I was hoping he'd stay for another year or 2.

As a Packer fan I have to agree with Green Bay. He waited until a month before camp opened to change his mind publicly after the job was given to Rodgers. Sorry Brett you brought it on yourself. I wonder if he'll cry again when he really does retire.

You know Chico, Favre's crying jag is getting pretty old to me as well.

Brett Favre going to the Jets reminds me of the old adage, "Be careful of what you wish for ... you might just get it."

If leading a team to a record of 13-3, a birth in the NFC championship, and finishing 2nd in the MVP voting, is washed up I bet a lot of teams would love to have him wash up on their team!

Favre did make the mistake of retiring. I agree that the Packers have the right to move on without him. However, the last time I checked it was everyones right to change their mind. Favre wants to play. The Pack should have done this trade 2 months ago and avoided all of this hoopla. McCarthy said that they did not believe Favre would really come back.

The pressure is really on the Pack and Rodgers. If they struggle or he gets hurt, a lot of stock holding fans are going to be upset. Because the guy who got the job done for so long is still playing, but for someone else. Both sides should have swallowed their pride and got the deal done to have stay a Packer.

Big Daddy, you have to consider the source. That was a Bear fan who said he was washed up. I don't remember him saying he wanted to un-retire 2 months ago, so it would have been hard to trade him. IMO he waited too long. The Packers had to prepare for his absence as soon as he retired.
