  • Favre Seeks Unconditional Release

    per ESPN

Three days after a conference call with Packers officials on Tuesday in which Brett Favre emphatically expressed his desire to play in 2008, Favre on Friday formally asked for his contractual release.

There are some good NFL teams out there that could use a QB...

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Favre to the Vikings= Super Bowl contender.

One guys opinion on the Favre sweepstakes

Brett Favre wants the Packers to grant him a release. Which teams would be the most ideal fits for him? Bill Williamson considers the possibilities.

As a Packer fan, I'd really like to see this Brett Favre circus end. He's just tarnishing his legacy.

And there's no way he ends up with the Bears or Vikings, I can tell you that right now. The Packers front office would be absolute morons to cut him. If he is playing somewhere else in the fall it will be because of a trade.

I was just dreaming out loud with Favre going to the Vikes... I could see him going to a place like Tampa or San Diego if Rivers is banged up still.

Sorry T, but I doubt that #4 will be a Bear. The Bears dont have any WR's.

But I think that Favre wants another SuperBowl ring more than the money... If he becomes a Bear, which I doubt,(he wont be a Viking either) Favre will end up on the disabled list. The Bears dont have a running game to speak of and they dont have much for wide recievers either.imo

And money wise, we are talking about the Mckaskeys.

Why would Green Bay ever give him an unconditional release? Favre looks like the lame-brain to most of the people following this story. The Packers should tell him to learn ice fishing if he is bored.

How true this statement is Dallas.

Now the Pack will not grant the unconditional release but will welcome back Favre to the team as a BACK UP QB.

The Green Bay Packers' general manager and coach say they don't plan to grant Brett Favre's request for his release.

                Wow......

I honestly believe that Favre feels that he was pushed out in the spring and now feels he made a mistake. If he files his papers with the NFL he will be a Packer, he is under contract for 3 more years. They can say he is the 2nd string, 3rd string...whatever, but he will prove that he is the best option. To me the Packers are stupid if they don't play him. He is the best option for the Pack to win right now. I say welcome him back, make him prove himself and then trade Rodgers for a draft pick or whatever. The Pack drafted 2 QB'S!!!! this past draft, tells me they are not so sure about Rodgers leading the way! This is Brett Favre we are talking about. If he is in shape and ready to play, how do you not play him?!?
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

They drafted two QB's because they didn't have anyone else to back up Rodgers.

And Rogers had played about 3 quarters in the past 3 years, without any starts...I want the fudgepackers to screw up as much as possible. Makes the Bears chances of getting to the playoffs all the better.

I agree Dallas. I wouldn't give him his release. Invite him to camp and if he's still number 1 fine. If not, hold the clipboard. Bigdaddy, don't most teams draft a QB or two when they lose their starter?
What part of illegal don't you understand?
