Berrian was wanting #1 receiver money, and he is not that good. The only way the Bears were going to keep him is if they tagged him with the Franchise Player tag, and then they would have had to pay him top $. Let's see if Berrian can get that on the free agent market.
I guess someone is willing to put out a lot of money for Berrian. He signs for $42 million for 6 years. Not bad for a receiver with 150 catches in 4 seasons.
I'm glad the Bears were able to keep Briggs. If our safeties are healthy this year we should have a top 5 defense again. The Vikings overpaid for Berrian, but they have so much cap room I don't think it really mattered to them. If they get good quarterback play this year I see the vikings in the playoffs.

I don't get it either, the Bears are unloading these pieces and it looks like they have some major work to do in the draft and what's left of free agency. On the other hand, I like the fact that they spent the money and resigned Briggs.
News about Chicago sports from the Chicago Tribune: Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Blackhawks, Sky and more.
I don't get it, there are so many holes on this team and there just aren't enough draft picks to go around. And it's not like the front office is going to go out and throw a bunch of money around for free agents. It's gonna be a long year next season.

Brendon was considered gone along time ago, I don't think people were counting on him. He is good, but now the SP ace team is going to be McGowan, Jamar Williams, and Adrian Peterson. Since Benson will be getting competition through a drafted RB, AP will be back on Special Teams. I believe AP has been within 1 or 2 ST tackles of Brendon the past couple of years, so we won't miss much there. I'm just worried about the O-line.
