Caleb Terbush of Metamora, Ill., was offered a scholarship on an unofficial visit to West Lafayette Saturday.
Then, he left.
"We got about 10 miles down the road," Terbush said, "and I called Coach (Ed) Zaunbrecher and said I wanted to be a Boilermaker."
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Terbush would seem like the textbook "sleeper." He was recruited by Wyoming and Western Illinois, but Purdue was his first offer.
He attended a one-day camp in West Lafayette this summer, though, and Purdue obviously saw something it liked.
"They said I wasn't really high on their radar," Terbush said, "until I came to that camp."
For its first big recruiting weekend of the season, Purdue hosted seven official visitors."
Metamora's Caleb TerBush (quarterback) has kinda placed himself in a tough position....
When he graduated from Metamora in 2008, he accepted a scholarship to Purdue.....and I am sure he had really high hopes of working himself into a reasonable chance of playing time...and Caleb even spent his whole first year at Purdue redshirting and getting bigger, stronger, better....

Things were even looking up this spring when Caleb was awarded the "team's Most Improved Award - Offense for spring practice."
As a redshirt freshman, he got to play in only one game (for only 12 plays) behind starting (senior) QB Joey Elliott...so he was hopeful with Elliott's graduation, that he'd be the QB of the future...
But -- here's the tough news.......Purdue didn't stop recruiting and may have just double recruited over Caleb...
Purdue landed FOUR other freshman QB's for 2010 (2 of whom are Top 100 prospects) and also landed an outstanding, experienced transfer from Miami, who is getting writeups for his abilities and who is almost certain to step right in ahead of Caleb as starter...

Miami transfer Robert Marve is a Parade All American, also ex-High School Player of the Year in Florida, breaking all of Tim Tebow's state offensive records in the process, and was also the University of Miami team "Player of the Year"....so it'll be tough for Caleb to get much PT the next couple years as well....as Marve is universally being said to be the starter at QB for the next couple years at Purdue...
Then the final piece of bad news for Caleb....just this morning, Purdue got a verbal commitment from one of the top Class of 2011 QB prospects in the nation...who is now getting writeups as Purdue's QB of the future...
