    Bears land top pick

    Well, the Bears finally did something right and lost exceedingly well helping to land us the number one pick in the draft.

    Do we take a pass rusher with the pick or trade down for multiple picks? Not sure how good this kid from Alabama is, but rarely do you get the chance to pick up a young stud pass rusher, so if he’s as good as billed, my desire would be for them to take him and use their cap space to load up on offensive line talent in free agency. Maybe a WR after that and I think the Bears could be pretty good. That being said, the McCaskeys still own the team, so good chance they’ll screw it up, but the Bears have made me a bit pessimistic since tearing apart the 85 team thst should have been a dynasty for a decade!

    Very excited about the #1 pick....plus 110 million of cap money the Bears will become competitive immediately. Bad news is Lovie got canned today and winning over the Colts giving up pick #1 had something to do with it.
    Lovie had 3 years left on contract...bring him back as DC and get rid of Williams....not impressed...

      Yeah, that cap space really gives them no excuses for next year. With our draft position and that money, they should be able to do whatever they want. Too bad we traded away that 2nd round pick for Claypool - turns out to be the 1st pick in the 2nd round. I can't imagine Pittsburgh isn't over the top with that trade. Hopefully Claypool can work out.

      Too bad about Lovie, but I'm not ready to give up on Alan Williams just yet. They traded his 2 best defensive players and the offense didn't keep them off the field much this year. Beyond that, they had several injuries to deal with and had no incentive to win (I think they may have even been tanking to get that #1). Williams has a pretty good history of success and if they can get a decent pass rusher in the offseason, I think they're going to be pretty tough next season.

        At least the Bears finally got the president right...hiring Big 10 commish Warren who had experience in NFL with Lions, Rams and Vikings.Bears had Phillips for 40 years with no football backround......terrible. very excited about the Warren hire...
