The Redbirds go to 2-4 blowing a halftime lead and giving up 58 points today.
They look more like a rank team than a ranked team.
    Headed in the right direction

        Which key players are suspended?

        This is from WJBC:

Only two of the players have seen game action--running back Mitchell Moore, who has one carry for one yard, and Micha Gordon, who has played in three games with two tackles on special teams. Both are sophomores. Other players suspended are all freshmen, Clifton Gordon, Antwan Ryles and Cameron Thompkins. Gordon is a walk-on, and Ryles and Thompkins are redshirting.

The other player suspended, Nick Williams has 6 tackles on the year.

It's a huge loss to miss a guy who has 1 carry for 1 yard and a guy that has 2 tackles on special teams, not to mention Williams who has all of 6 tackles. Or were the redshirting players the Key Players missing?

But Nick Williams does start, and was absent Saturday.
You don't think the suspensions and the stuff surrounding them has upset any team chemisty?
One of my classmates tells me Peoria Woodruff's Micha Gordon may be suspended for a long time to come from what I hear.

Following the suggestion of posters on the Redbirdfan board, you find that Nick Williams got a DUI on Sept. 10, and was suspended one game.
Why was he not suspended earlier, the offense occurred a month ago?

So now it's team chemistry? I doubt the defense missed Micha Gordon, Moore, and the 2 redshirt players, etc.

              You said
              "numerous key players are suspended"

It's a stretch to say Nick Williams is a key player. It's even more of a stretch to say "Key players were suspended."

Williams started the first 3 games of the season, but he didn't start againt Missouri or UNI. He is a part-time player at DT at best.

Who were the other key players?

                [QUOTE=cpacmel;43802]So now it's team chemistry?QUOTE]

                You asking me?
Here are some comments from your own people.

"morale was really low for that whole game

"that would lend credibility to the statement that we stink.

"'Birds might win 2 more games this year. Program is in complete disarray. No leadership and no talent. grossly overrated and a total University embarrasment.

"Redbird fans are actually looking forward to Basketball season cuz Football season is officially done

"Denver. Shouldn't have had his contract renewed just because he got to the playoffs last year. Bring in a decent Assistant from a quality FB program (not from a Kansas university either

"a couple of weeks ago people were suggesting that ISU should be in the Big 12
Wasn't there just an article on trying to get this team in the Big 12 down the road? What a horrible joke this team is and the entire athletic department
It is hard to be hopeful for ISU athletics after more than a decade of disappointment

(from Valleytalk, Gateway FB board and Panty)
Denver needs to clean the drugs and the booze out of the program and impose an 11PM bedcheck.
Wouldn't hurt the other programs either.

                    no compliments?

y'all are quick to kick sand and hate on when the 'Birds struggle or lose a game they shouldn't right?..............where's the praise and the compliments when they win a tough road game in an environment that is easily the toughest in the Gateway?

                    am I smelling a little hypocrisy perhaps?..............nahhhh

Since I think most people ehre are not followers of ISU, what is referred to is that ISU had a nice win at 12th ranked Youngstown State Saturday.

ISU is now 4-4, and 2-2 in conference.

Good for the Birds...they still get a crack at SIU coming up?
                        Can they win in Carbondale?

Yes and Yes. Depends on which Redbird team shows up. They have the ability to do it and have done it recently (61-35 in '05).

They would love to hurt the Saluki playoff seeding.

Football doesn't seem to draw on this board.
I started this topic 2 months ago, and still only about 5-6 views per day since is all it draws.
Wonder if a BU football forum would draw views?

Like Cooksey said, yes and yes.

We have been a very Jeckyll and Hyde team this year and very inconsistent. But we have strung together 2 real solid games, including the win @ YSU. We have been a banged up team since week 1 and have some key injuries. Plus, we are at the mercy of our schedule, which is arguably the toughtest in the Gateway. We can win in Carbondale...we've done in before. We hammered SIU by almost 30 in '05 when they were ranked #1 and we were unranked. The final score of 61-35 actually wasnt even remotely indicative of that game though as SIU tacked on two extremely late scores against our 3rd team defense. We also beat them 37-10 at home last year. But, thats all ancient history.

We have 3 games left and all are very tough. We host Western Illinois tomorrow and they are never a pushover (even though UNI flat out had their way with them last week.) Then we travel to North Dakota State where we will absolutely have our work cut out for us cuz they are awesome. Then we finish up @ SIU on Nov 10th. We havent played consistent, good football this year and are a pretty banged up team, but hopefully we are getting our confidence back and can make some noise in our last 3 games. The only way we get into the playoffs is if we win out, and that is going to be a monumental task with our remaining schedule.
