Mike Tauchman, who starred for the Bradley baseball team from 2010-2013 was drafted in the 2013 MLB draft by the Colorado Rockies, and has spent most of the last 6 seasons in the Rockies minor leagues-

Tauchman was traded to the NY Yankees yesterday, and barring some last minute unexpected move, he appears to have made the opening day roster for the Yankees-

Tauchman benefitted from an outfielder shortage by the Yankees. Projected starting center fielder Aaron Hicks has not played since March 1 because of a lingering back injury, and will start the season on the injured list.

Bradley's Mike Tauchman was just optioned back to Triple A Scranton by the Yankees

He played in 32 games in center field, in 89 at-bats he had 19 hits, .213 BA, 7 doubles, 4 HR, 12 RBI

Tauchman made the opening day roster because of an injury to the Yankees' projected starting center fielder Aaron Hicks (see 1st post).
He had a rough start, batting just .177 in April with 3 HRs. But he has played very well in May, batting .296 in the 10 games this month.
His On Base Percentage so far in May is .387, and his OPS is .906, which are exceptionally good numbers.

Tauchman also played errorless ball playing in 248 innings spread among all three outfield positions.
Unfortunately, Hicks came off the Injured List today, and Tauchman was the odd man out. I hope he gets a chance to return to the major leagues again soon.

Former Bradley All-American Mike Tauchman now seems to have solidified his roster spot with the Yankees. He is leading the Yankees in Slugging Percentage and OPS, and has one of the top WAR numbers on the team.
He also leads the Major Leagues in batting average since the All Star break with a .433 average, and he is second in MLB in that span in Slugging and OPS.
Last night he hit a home run, his 10th this year and his 3rd in the last 2 games, and he made a spectacular catch-
