Kirk Wessler has a column today about a relatively unknown Bradley athlete from the early 1930's named Charles Lambert "Pat" Redd. He went to the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, and won a silver medal in the broad jump. It's a great story about a great athlete that almost nobody knows about--
Among the old Bradley stuff I have are many old yearbooks. From the 1933-1934 Bradley Polyscope yearbook are these couple pages with a little more information and pictures of Pat Redd. To read the text, you may have to enlarge your browser window (at the bottom right corner of Internet Explorer).
In this yearbook, Lambert is referred to as the greatest athlete in Bradley's history. That may be a tough one to argue now, with greats like Chet Walker, Hersey Hawkins, and others. But Redd certainly deserves to be considered.
