Ya sure, you figured it out. The appeal was supposed to be heard July 2nd but MLB pushed it back. And why would he want to serve it later in the season? Obviously he would want his suspension over ASAP so he can get back and help the Cubs win the division, when do you think he wants to serve it? Actually, the usual procedure for appeals is for the process to happen when the player next plays in NY or has a day off in a close city. That way it doesn't inconvenience the commisioner. I do not believe this to be a rule or policy just the traditional way it has been done for quite some time now.
