  • Cubs trade Michael Barrett to Padres

In a rather sudden and surprising move, the Cubs have traded catcher Michael Barrett to the San Diego Padres. The Cubs were reported to receive backup catcher Rob Bowen and minor league outfielder Kyler Burke.

Cubs catcher Michael Barrett was traded to the Padres on Wednesday for San Diego backup catcher Rob Bowen and minor league outfielder Kyler Burke.

Now the Cubs only have 2 cheap shot artists. Zambrano and Lee.

Zambrano probably told the Cubs management either he goes or I go...

I would have said bye, bye Carlos. Barrett isn't the best catcher in the league, but nobody as phony as Zambrano would tell my organization how it should be run.

Sorry, I hate the Cubs, but they made the right move. Barrett was an average, probably below average catcher. Zambrano is one of the top pitchers in the league. I wish they would've traded Zambrano.

Honestly, I think the worse move the Cubs have made in the past couple of years was not trying to play money-ball and become the Yankees of the NL, but passing on Girardi. Lou Pinella, does not have half the baseball IQ of Girardi and isn't nearly as good as managing multi-million dollar egos and attitudes, I'd say the clubbing Cubs as a few have begun to call them prove the latter.

            Speaking of the Cubs............

You long time Cub fans should remember and appreciate this Lee Elia tirade. I'm wiping the tears of laughter after listening to this gem again. (**WARNING! Very strong language )
