Mark Buerhle pitched a no-hitter tonight, winning 6-0 over the Texas Rangers. He faced the minimum number of hitters, 27, but walked Sammy Sosa in the 4th inning then picked him off first.

Though it is not an absolute requirement, he has never played with a World Champion team. That may hurt him. Also, though I don't believe there has ever been a hint of performance-enhancing drugs ever suspected with Thome, he did accumulate his homers in this era when home runs have been cheapened.
But maybe a few more good seasons could do it for him.

I think if he can stay on a 40+ pace for the next 3 years that will put him at or 600 but personally 600 will be manditory for him. The World Series would be a very good enhancement to his resume.
But if his health stays good he could realistically play 5 or more years his power numbers could be well over 600, he is also within 150 hits of 2000.
