Is anyone else shocked by this move.....not by the Cubs who could use a 97 MPH pitcher but by Jeff Samardzija who most think would have been picked in the 1st round of the NFL Draft? I thought for sure he would go football and he did a minor league stint last summer with the Peoria Chiefs!
I like the idea but, I would like to see if in his contract it states that he cannot reevaluate and decide to play a little football too. I was really hoping that the Bears would draft him. The kid is a stud. In the mold of Touchdown Tommy Waddell only a little bigger. Oh well at least he is with one of my two teams. It would be cool down the road to see him suiting up for the Bears, but I guess only time will tell.
If I read heard the deal correctly.........if he decides to play any other sport than baseball with-in the 5 year deal.....he would give back the entire 2.5 million signing bonus.....and guess what....it was JS's idea?
