Great job - Coach Roche (a Ken Kavanagh hire) has done a great job, but the private schools are at a huge disadvantage in golf recruiting...

as most people don't know, men's golf scholarships are usually not full scholarships.. each DI program can offer only 4.5 scholarships, so the golf team members (most teams consist of 10-12 members) generally get a partial scholarship and then have to pay the rest of the tuition - which tremendously favors and gives an advantage to the state schools who have lower tuition..

Considering how well BU has done over the years, I applaud Coach Roche - but to win the Valley championship requires 4 great scores - a degree of depth that is harder for the private schools to accomplish.

Has there ever been a 3-year stretch with SO MANY conference Championships as we have seen from 2015-2018 under AD Dr. Chris Reynolds?
We now have the 2018 Men's Golf Championship
Bradley owns the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Men's XC Championships
    the 2015, 2017 Women's XC Championship
plus we could be favorites for both in 2018
and soccer has always done well, and note baseball is off to one of their best starts in a long time at 23-9

Can success in Men's Basketball as well as WBB, VB and other sports be far behind? GO Braves!

Here's a few more details from the MVC tournament. Drake is the first BU men's golfer to win the MVC individual tournament since Dave Wettlaufer, who won in 1984 & 85 and is just the 3rd BU golfer to do it. Bo Togikawa won in 1951. Drake also broke BU's all time 54 hole MVC tournament score. Tim Sweborg, one of Dunlap High School's all time greatest athletes and long time pro at Gibson Woods in Monmouth, shot a 218 in 1966. Bradley led by 6 after shooting a first round 298, led by 19 after shooting a 289 and won by 16 after shooting a 296. Jeff Roach was named MVC Men's Golf coach of the year. Drake earned all MVC honors for the 3rd straight season, a mark that's never been done in program history. Ethan and Michael were also named all MVC, the 2nd straight year that Ethan achieved that mark. Michael also won a very prestigious award as he was named the winner of the MVC's Elite 17 Award winner. It combines the highest achievements in both athletics and academics for all of the MVC's 18 team championships. Michael is an entrepreneurship major and has a 3.93 grade point average. Ethan was one of 3 seniors who played in this tournament. Matthew Specht finished 18th with a score of 230 and Limestone/ICC grad and current Peoria Men's city champ Zach Jewell tied for 28th with a score of 234. The Golf Channel will announce where Bradley will play during the NCAA Regionals at 4:30 on May 2. The regionals will take place on May 14-16 and will be taking place at 6 different sites around the country. I know how disappointed the guys were after they weren't able to win the tournament last year so to see them come through this year is awesome. Illini Golf has had a long history of BU golfers who have worked part time at the store over the years and I can tell you all of us are so proud of our part timer Ethan and the rest of these guys. They are a credit to this University for how they conduct themselves both on and off the course.
