boxing great Muhammad Ali is ill with pneumonia and hospitalized. Some reports are that he has been having repeated difficulties with infections due to his weakened state, but he's said to be expected to make and recover.....
Like him or not, he's one of the great success stories in sports...growing up in a modest setting in Louisville, KY and becoming the single most recognized person in all of sports.
But it has also long been debated that much of his debility in the past 25 years is due to boxing-related brain trauma....and that he is a walking example of why the sport is being banned in some areas.
The size & strength of athletes today dwarfs what existed pre-1960's when year-round training, the money involved, the training facilities, and the "supplements" that all allow for increased size - so we're gonna see lots more of this brain stuff as this next generation turns 60 & 70...
