Coach Matt Tyler inherited a team without a winning record since 1993.

This is Tyler's third year and he's got the girls on a 6-game streak and a record of 6-2. It appears they can be plus side of 500 this year.

As noted the ladies win streak was snapped yesterday. Most importantly the team plays at UIC today so they didn't stay in Kalamazoo last night.

Some fans/family did and were close enough to the last shootings that they heard shots and saw the aftermath. Thank goodness they are safe and doing ok today.

Ladies won today getting record to 11-11 and 2-3 in MVC with Drake and UNI yet to play.

Drake is middle of conference while UNI is bottom. Team has a shot at being 4-3 in conference.

I miss men's tennis. Is there any chance Bradley might bring it back?
Also, why not start a women's soccer team?

Yes, it is possible to restart the program. It will need some alumni support to reinstate the men's tennis.

...at the risk of being accused of bringing up the past...
I am going to stick my neck out and predict we may not see any new sports added until finances improve, revenue increases and some of the disastrous financial losses and mistakes of the past few years are repaired & recovered...
Gotta remember - we're not even a year down the road from numerous multi-million buyouts of poorly negotiated contracts of the former Athletic & Administrative personnel - totaling millions..
Our staff was left with a tremendous lead weight around their necks for years to come...

I think bringing back tennis on the men's side will be tough to achieve. As noted there are financial considerations and when colleges cut it seems as if men's tennis is the first to go.

Two more D1 Illinois institutions are eliminating men's tennis at the conclusion of this spring semester. SIUE and Western Illinois both have been hit with Illinois budget issues and have responded by eliminating men's tennis.

I know people connected with EIU and Chicago State tennis and both sides are concerned about their programs.

Ladies lost vs Drake, won vs UNI to go 12-12 (3-4).

Today the ladies upset Illinois State in the MVC tourney. ISU had defeated Braves 5-2 during season. Braves play top seed Wichita State tomorrow.

                      Here's a tennis story...
a medium sized state school in Minnesota, St. Cloud State (15,000 enrollment, DII), just cut several sports due to budgetary issues. They had little choice as their budget problems aren't much different than state schools here in Illinois and elsewhere.

BUT - instantly a whole bunch of their women's tennis players have filed a lawsuit alleging the opportunities for the women have been unfairly affected.
Among numerous other demands they are asking that an INJUNCTION be served on the University and force them to continue women's tennis.

one other related article...here's the dilemma schools are in...
if they don't spend godawful amounts of taxpayer money to support all those revenue-losing sports, then they have to cancel those sports - but then the players who lose their spots get lawyers & sue and cost even more taxpayer money - revolving door of money-wasting.
TEN of the 12 Michigan state schools transfer "large chunks" of money from "the general fund — which is generally made up of money from student tuition and state aid to keep them afloat"...
                      They note...
"the only way to run an athletic department is to subsidize it with general fund money. With tuition costs rising and some universities tightening belts, the money being sent out of academics to pay for athletics can be controversial."

                      Illini running out of money

NIU is on the verge of cutting more sports

Plus...now all the athletes wanna be paid, the coaches want more money, and football/head injury lawsuits are about to hit big-time...
where's all the money gonna come from?
You guessed right - the taxpayers!!!!
