I would nominate Sheldon Richardson for going 143 mph on drugs with kid in car. What a bonehead.

Press writers who hold a grudge because Ted Williams didn't give them an interview then take it out by voting against him.
Seriously - look at that - Ted Williams - arguably and in some people's eyes, the best player of all time - still didn't get twenty guys' votes!!!
23 writers dissed on Willie Mays!!! And about a dozen dissed on Babe Ruth!!!
READ THIS COLUMN ABOUT how many of the very top players in history still faced resistance from certain voters.
Just goes to show you that some writers place the extra special requirement of "you gotta kiss my *** before I will give you my vote"

you decide if this defines "idi-ot"..
but Maria Sharapova - currently earning $30 million per year for tennis winnings and endorsements...the HIGHEST earning female athlete in the world!!!
...has just accepted a 2-year suspension due to testing positive for a banned substance.
The drug in question is meldonium...not widely known as a "performance enhancing drug"...
It was and is used to treat heart patients - although is not used commonly - as it opens blood vessels and improves heart performance and and improves stamina in heart muscle and possibly all muscles.
It was never on the list of banned drugs until Jan. 1, 2016 but it is now because a perfectly healthy athlete - one without heart disease - would only be taking it for ONE PURPOSE, which would be to hopefully improve stamina and athletic endurance and thus gain an advantage over someone who is not taking it.

I guess also joining the list of really stupid people in sports...
are the jerk/peeping Tom who videotaped Erin Andrews in a motel, plus the motel staff & administration who negligently revealed to this crook where she was staying then allowed the stalker to request the room next to hers to video her.
They both have to come up with about $27 million bucks as punishment for their acts.
Sadly for Ms. Andrews, with the legal appeals and the moron's likelihood of just filing bankruptcy - she might never see much of that settlement, but she has the satisfaction of nailing them in court.

not only were no charges ever brought, and the accuser totally discredited...
now the NHL - to satisfy the media activism - have fully investigated and found zero credibility in those accusations and the accuser herself.

I thought this story belonged in this "Sports ldiot" thread-
SEMO freshman reserve Tony Anderson to declare for NBA draft
Tony Anderson, who averaged 5.0 points and 2.1 rebounds for Southeast Missouri State, has decided to declare for the NBA draft.
SEMO freshman Tony Anderson, who played on a 5-24 team and averaged 5.0 ppg and 2.1 rpg quit the team, dropped out of school, and reportedly will hire an agent and declare for the 2016 NBA Draft. ESPN contacted several NBA executives, none of whom had even heard of Tony Anderson.

Here is the PJ Star report of the disturbance outside the Civic Center. They make it seem like it was just 2 or 3 people scuffling, but from people who were there, I have heard it was much more than that. There were lots of high school students involved, and multiple fights broke out despite the PJ Star's attempt to minimize the incident-

..now the next in line - handpicked, next-in-line Senior Executive Assoc AD Mike Ellis is forced to step down as multiple complaints start rolling in about his similar behavior!!
http://www.startribune.com/complaint...ota/324085181/......
They had Parker Search help them last time and paid them $112,000, and they ended up hiring Norwood Teague - who had pending actions against him for sexual harassment at his former school when Minnesota hired the guy and apparently Parker Search had never bothered to check that out!
So this time, they hired a different group - Turnkey Search and are paying them.... $150,000 plus expenses!
Plus they have a committee of coaches & players to help out!

-Tom Brady & Roger Goodell for the laughable Deflate-gate mess....
Looks like Roger Goodell might get the last laugh. After a lengthy investigation by the NFL, Goodell suspended Tom Brady last May for 4 games, which would have been served at the beginning of the Fall, 2015 season. Virtually everyone was ripping him and the NFL for suspending Tom Brady over the deflated footballs the Patriots used in the AFC Championship game in January, 2015, against the Colts, claiming he overstepped his authority or that Brady was denied due process or that there was no direct evidence proving him guilty.
Brady and the NFL Players Association appealed to the US District Court and the NFL's decision was struck down just before the start of last season. But Goodell did follow the appropriate protocol spelled out in the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the Players Association, so they counter-appealed. Today, the US Court of Appeals overturned the previous decision, and ruled that Goodell acted properly in suspending Brady. Thus Brady's suspension will be reinstated-
Tom Brady's four-game suspension relating to the Deflategate scandal was reinstated by a U.S. appeals court ruling Monday.
Brady's side can try another appeal, but that would be costly and take a long time. On the other hand, Bradley would miss games against Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills if the suspension stands.

maybe some people are pretty clueless or biased by being Brady fans..
but it's pretty much a no-brainer here that Brady & his coach engineered this effort to cheat to their advantage and got caught..
..all their ridiculous pleas and defenses are likewise difficult to take seriously except that they do find some sympathetic fans & press ...

Here's one that blows me away...clear-cut drug use & abuse and criminal behavior simply kept quiet by the University of Minnesota wrestling coach & department
players on the Minnesota wrestling team were selling controlled, prescription drugs for profit...and the players also "admitted to using narcotics" as well...
The coach found out about it but chose not to blow the whistle, nor call the cops, nor even directly discipline them...
EVEN THO he confiscated 1,400 illegally possessed prescription Xanax pills. The players stated they had 2,500 such pills but had already sold or recreationally used the 1,100 not confiscated.
instead, he simply assigned the guilty wrestlers an extra assignment of just "writing an essay"..
I recall an incident where ONE SINGLE PLAYER acquired six such pills and was arrested, faced serious charges, was smeared by the local press for months & was suspended for multiple games,
but these guys at Minnesota seem to act like this is just jaywalking!
Why are these athletes not immediately suspended and the coach fired!!!
One more - housecleaning at Baylor- this is what needed to happen at Louisville, North Carolina, and all those other places that broke so many rules but just hoped it would all go away. We kinda always knew Ken Starr was soft on this kind of stuff.
