      a new nomination...
Head football coach at USC - Steve Sarkisian..

shows up drunk to a booster event, slurs his speech, throws in a few expletives and F-bombs...
It's the second time in four years that Sark has appeared inebriated in front of the donors and his football team. He dissed Cal back in 2012 as head coach of the Huskies.

Another Front Runner For Sports ***** of August... Chris Carter of the NFL/ESPN

Technically, this contestant put his foot in his mouth last year, but, the story is just now hitting the US Sports media....

Former Gang Banger, NFL's Chris Carter (a NFL Hall of Famer no less) shows his true colors advising NFL rookies last year to make sure they have a 'fall guy' in their posse to take the blame for any transgressions the rookies' make while playing in the NFL...

Apparently we can take the player out of the hood, but, not the hood out of the player..

He was speaking, along with Warren Sapp, to NFL rookies in an NFL sponsored rookie orientation, and stated they should never take the fall for drinking, drugs, car accidents, woman abuse, rape etc by making sure they have someone in their posse take the blame. 'let them go to jail' and promise 'you'll take care of them'.....

This is beyond disappointing, as Carter has sold his good guy, reformed punk, religious/moral re-invention to the media/public to land all sorts of jobs with the NFL and ESPN/Networks who cover the NFL.

Sapp's appearance at the NFL rookie conference was laughable as he was charged with beating up prostitutes during Super Bowl week here in Phoenix this year. Apparently he forgot to take his posse with him that night.

Chris Carter - Move to the top of the sports idi@t list for August.

Another (Soon To Be Former) 49er Joins The Running For Sports ***** Of August

Ahmad Brooks, soon to be a former 49er OLB, was indicted for sexual assault for reportedly inappropriately touching a woman at a party last year.

She claims she was unconscious from booze and falling/hitting her head on a pool deck, but, somehow, remembers being touched inappropriately by Ahmad while being carried upstairs to a room at the home where the party was.

Ahmad may beat the rap, questioning her claim while being drunk/unconscious, but still deserves to be nominated for SIOTM for being anywhere near that party/woman.

Ahmad didn't even try to have one of his posse take the blame, what's up with that?

Did I mention Ahmad was hoping to regain his starting position when he acted like an idi@t...

I sure hope this stuff isn't going on at every school - there sure seems to be a ton of it at Minnesota.
The University of Minnesota paid a student-athlete $250,000 last year to resolve her complaint related to semi-nude modeling she did for a male gymnastics coach.

Although no guarantee things won't change - it is looking more and more like there will be NO charges brought against Patrick Kane.

The three sources also said they do not believe the case will be presented to a grand jury. “This case is going nowhere,” one knowledgeable source told The Buffalo News when asked about the possibility of criminal charges.

Kane's statement is that the facts speak for themselves...but I fully expect the "accuser" and her latest lawyer to file more suits - as the Geicko commercial says - that's what they do...

well - every case has people who take far differing sides...but this one is one of the most bizarre I have seen since the facts as have been released point strongly towards a lack of evidence against Kane and a whole bunch of shenanigans on the part of the accuser, her family, her lawyer, and even some of her supportive shills in the media who are trying to drum up public sympathy for her and sympathy against Kane.
Sorry - I admit I was a Patrick Kane fan even before all this started but my view of the evidence that has been made known and the facts as they have been made quite clear - kinda discredit the accuser big time.

it would be interesting to see if Kane & his lawyer file suit against the woman and her mother for lies and promoting an elaborate hoax that had smeared Kane publicly.

Didn't this happen to Bruce Pearl, too?

After getting kicked out of his son's high school basketball game the next step is spin it as unfair and not warranted

even more bad news for Minnesota...yet another scandal or two...
A review showed "HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS" OF IMPROPER SPENDING within their Athletic Department - including...
"tens of thousands of dollars spent on alcohol, parties and other luxuries in violation of U policy.." and
".. improper spending on alcohol, expensive hotels and parties during (former AD) Teague??™s tenure."

Then they found that the former AD made some nice deals that got some pretty nice perks right into his pocket - plus over $50,000 in booze bought by department members.
I think when AD's and University admins run their programs into the ground with irresponsible spending, they ought to pay the University back!
With expensive hotel stays, holiday parties and overspending on food and alcohol, the University of Minnesota athletics department frequently violated school policies under former director Norwood …

Texas has a similar scandal with top insiders within Athletics skimming then brokering tickets for profit

I don't think I can turn this thread into a poll, but I will try...
now that 2015 is done- let's vote on the Sports IDI0T of the Year....you can include anyone already mentioned in this thread or find someone new...

But it has to be someone in sports - no listing politicians, or notable public figures who pretend to be one race or sex while they are actually another, and no listing of stupid crooks unless they are sports figures...

Here's a summary of the notables from this thread plus a few others thrown in...

-Aldon Smith - 49ers, got arrested for DUI/Hit & Run on 1st day of training camp.

-Norwood Teague - Univ. of Minnesota AD who had everything going for him then threw it all away by trying to use his power & position to get a little nookie on the side. Maybe the guy who hired this bozo should also be included since teague was found to have done the exact same thing where he worked before.

-Sheldon Richardson - NY Jets, arrested going 143mph on drugs & had a kid in his car.

-Justin Moss, MAC Player of the Year arrested for stealing from other students' dorm rooms.

-IKEMEFUNA ENEMKPALI - another NY Jets player punched his own QB and put him on the disabled list

-Darius Paul - now we're getting close to home, Paul booted for his umpteenth violation with drugs & booze.

-BU's Warren Jones was nominated as well for his poor judgement that led to dismissal.

-Tom Brady & Roger Goodell for the laughable Deflate-gate mess.

-Winona State head coach forced out for making drunken sexual advanced towards one of his players.

-USC FB Coach Steve Sarkisian - multiple efforts to impersonate Foster Brooks.

-Chris Carter for his advice to NFL rookies on having a posse fall guy.

-Ahmad Brooks - but then this kind of drunken advances are getting pretty common.

-Minnesota underling Mike Ellis caught doing the same thing as Teague.

-Oklahoma State's Travis Ford kicked out of his kid's high school game for berating refs from the stands.

...now a few more I threw in...

-There was Manny Pacquiao's decision to fight while injured and not bother to tell anyone - kind of a little dishonest considering a few hundred million bucks were being wagered.

-Ronda Rousey (and her entourage) spent the entire year hyping & boasting how unbeatable she was then she went down pretty easy in Round 2 in November. I guess there are people who actually consider this stuff "sports" so I included it - but any time a heavy favorite like Rousey or Pacquiao go down easy- it's gotta raise real suspicions just who might have been making the really big bucks on the betting? But then, like I said, if anyone really thinks this qualifies as real "sports" - then maybe I should include pro wrestlers like Rowdy Roddy Piper & all the other pro wrestlers who killed themselves with drugs & abuse.
And just about any year that he attempts a comeback and flops - we could re-list Keith Olbermann, but I won't.

-the list of people caught cheating in college basketball this year includes Larry Brown, Jim Boeheim, and a few others, but hey- this is everyday news any more.

-but this is the one I would vote for....
the family- specifically the mother - of the woman making accusations towards Patrick Kane - pulls the most bone-headed, stupid, and dishonest ruse about her daughter's rape claims, then blames it all on the investigators & prosecutors, dupes her really simple-minded and gullible lawyer to get in on it and generates the most ridiculous circus of press conferences I can ever recall seeing.
Even if there were any believable shred of evidence to support the publicity-seeking daughter's claims against Kane, then this stupid family & lawyer just made complete buffoons of themselves and proved to the world what extent they'd go to just to make a circus out of the evidence for whatever gain they might be able to achieve.
Thankfully the prosecutor dropped the whole thing.
...as a corollary I would also list all the stupid media and hateful bigots who demanded Kane be kicked out of the NHL & suspended based only on their pre-conceived ideas that if the accuser said it, then it must be true.

Griffey, Jr. was named on 437 of 440 ballots, for a 99.3%, the highest percentage in the history of Hall of Fame voting.

No past great ever got 100%. 23 people failed to vote for Willie Mays, and 20 people didn't vote for Ted Williams!
