My fellow Arizona snowbirds used to call me "straight arrow", but they also called me "shorty"

Just another great honor for a great young man. I've known Jim since he was a very young kid. Officiated many of his basketball games all the way back to when he played 5th and 6th grade BB. Was fortunate enough to see all his games his senior yr. at limestone. My son played 2nd base Jimmy's senior yr. Can't wait till the summer of 2018 when he gets the honor he deserves the most. Hope he wears an Indian hat can't see it being anything else.. I've never been to Cooperstown but looking forward to the trip.

Cleveland Indians fans don't deserve a class guy like Jim. After he left the Indians (after playing his first 12 seasons there) and signed with the Phillies, they booed him mercilessly every time he returned to play in Cleveland. Even after he was traded to the White Sox a couple years later, they booed him every time he stepped to the plate. No surprise that now that he's retired, he chose to work for the White Sox for his post-playing career..

I agree he was treated poorly when he played against the Indians but they did induct him this summer into their Hall Of Fame and erected a statue of him outside their ball park last summer. Jim and his family have maintained a home in the suburbs of Chicago and are very happy there. Probably a good reason to work for the Sox.Also just 2 and 1/2 hours from his family here in town and his hunting property west of Peoria.
