Bradley opens the season with a 5-1 win over Omaha

    Omaha- 1 5 2
    Bradley 5 8 1

Metamora's Spencer Gaa with 4 RBI
Elliot Ashbeck with 5.2 innings pitched giving up 4 hits & 1ER

BU softball drops to 1-5 with 8-0 loss to Kansas

BU softball lost their 2nd game yesterday, going down 11-0 to Weber State... so they got outscored on the day 19-0 and drop to 1-6.
The BU pitching has hurt along with offense - as we are giving up a combined batting avg of .426 with 22 extra base hits & 7 HR to our seven opponents thus far while hitting only .239 ourselves.

I enjoyed watching that. But if that is from Bradley Athletics, can't they invest in a video camera that actually shoots clear, in-focus video? I have a Sony BetaCam from 1982 that shoots far better quality video than that.

that was apparently from a hand-held phone cam taken by a spectator in the stands - might be the only video available - better than nothing
Prob his dad taking the video... Bet he's proud - and there are some MLB scouts watching Spencer.

Bradley baseball comes crashing back to earth..
Grand Canyon scored 30 runs (yes, that's THIRTY) on 28 hits (both all-time worst records in all of Bradley baseball's 115 year history) to win 30-7
we must lead DI in BA allowed

wrong way to get a mention on ESPN & makes for heckuva box score

They are above .500. How many other BU sports programs can say that right now. Hope they have a successful season as we all should.

              They have recruited good kids--
I just heard from someone who traveled with the team how well mannered, well dressed & polite the team was as they traveled thru airports, etc....and how many compliments they received--
this was also once the case with our other teams but...

baseball wins 1-0 to go 4-1
kudos to Steve Adkins, Cameron Roegner, & Matt Dennis - combining for the shutout

BU gets only 4 hits & 1 run but it's enough
Spencer Gaa sat out - just heard he's out with hamstring injury

btw- Spencer Gaa ranks #17 nationally

agree- looking good - but we've done this before in playing lesser early season opponents then floundering against the MVC - but encouraging...

Can't you just say good going without the "buts"? Just good to have a, so-far, winning sports team.

I am saying a lot more good about BU baseball than anyone else is....
I want to see them have a great year...but facts are facts...

the failure to schedule anyone tough for the first 20 games each season (even facing obscure DII's & NAIA's) prepares us poorly for the Valley race...
it is a very real issue.....
thus, for example, last year we started 7-1 then 13-3 then finished in the MVC basement.

Like I said - we are due for a good season, and our kids work hard and have good pitching - and nobody wants to see success at BU any more than I do...
Hey, how come you & I are the only ones rooting them on in this thread??

Let's hope things are different this year. They have some good recruits coming in next year. Guess everyone Is so wrapped up in basketball they haven't noticed the baseball team.

BU baseball was scheduled to play SEMO in a series this weekend, but due to frigid weather the series has been moved.
Now the games will be played in New Orleans.
Head baseball coach Steve Bieser has announced this weekend's series against Bradley University will be moved to New Orleans, Louisiana.
