  • ICC Men's Soccer

they are very good - soccer fans would enjoy getting out & watching them...
they improved to 8-0 tonite...and they moved up in the National NJCAA rankings and are ranked #6 in the nation...and have beaten two other Top 10 teams
Forward Carson Gray, from Morton, has 12 goals in eight games and is fun to watch - I have to believe he is getting D-I interest..
(there are only three other players in all of NJCAA with more goals thus far this season)

Head Soccer Coach Oz Bakirdan at ICC is a great coach. He also has connections all over that gets him good recruits year after year, including international connections that help him land very good international players (there 6 out-of-state Americans and 4 foreign players on this year's team).
I am surprised he hasn't gotten interest from D1 colleges. And if Bradley should ever lose Jim DeRose, he should be considered.

ICC Men's Soccer won their Regional and now play one more game for District Championship to qualify for the NATIONALS...

ICC plays MCC Blue River (MO) at noon today at ICC Cougarplex in East Peoria right behind the big, new ICC gym/basketball/VB complex
Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

Go Cougars! ICC is ranked #2 nationally, the opponent MCC-Blue River from Independence, MO is 13-3-2 and just outside the rankings but getting some votes.
ICC forward Carson Gray (Morton) is 4th nationally in goals scored & ICC's goalie ranks among the national leaders also in saves, save pct, goals against, and goals against avg.

MCC looked strong early and ICC was on defense a lot but lat ein the 1st half Carson Gray took advantage of a bad defensive mistake by MCC-BR and went up 1-0..
In the 2nd half, ICC's speed and passing wore down MCC and Gray scored twice more...
near the end it's 3-0...looking good for ICC to be headed to Arizona for the Nationals

          Final 3-0!! Congrats Cougars..
headed to Yavapai College in Prescott Arizona for the 12-team Nationals...
ICC starts play Nov. 18 or 19th - can't imagine they'd get any lower than a 2-seed since they are #2 ranked and won easily today.

seven teams have already qualified for Nationals and that number should be 12 after today..
(ICC, Tyler, Schoolcraft, Hill, Northeast Texas, CBCC-Essex, and Coffeyville)

If all three goals are officially credited to ICC's Carson Gray - he will have 26 goals (in 17 games) with only one player ahead (at 30 goals in 18 games) of him still playing games, thus a chance to finish the season as national leader

Big upset as ICC soccer, #2 rated nationally & #2 seeded in the Tourney...
loses their first game to Hill College 2-1
ICC outshot Hill 23-14 but in the tally that counts - ICC loses 2-1..
Now they play Trinidad at 3:30pm Thursday (Central), and with a big win could still advance out of pool play to the tournament stage...but it would require #7 seeded Trinidad beating #11 seeded Hill tomorrow at 3:30pm Central

ICC needed for Hill to lose but Trinidad & Hill tied - setting up the situation where even if ICC wins today they cannot advance from their group play..
..so this will be their final game unless one of other teams forfeits...

                not ICC men's soccer...
but looks like ICC women's soccer has hired a new head coach..
William Hudson - currently the head girls soccer coach at Washington HS - will take over as ICC women's head soccer coach -
the ICC women play a fall season, while high school girls play in spring so despite that it could hamper off-season recruiting, he would maintain both positions...

Morton's Carson Gray lands at Saint Louis for his junior season.
Saint Louis head men's soccer coach Mike McGinty today announced the addition of junior college transfer Carson Gray (Peoria, Ill./Morton HS/Illinois Central College).

Saint Louis also has Peoria Notre Dame's Vince Cicciarelli - a transfer from Notre Dame University

Meanwhile ICC has a "new look" - most starters & about half the roster has been recruited from outside the US. There are only 2 local players on the roster.
