  • Bradley baseball 2014

Good start for BU baseball - they go 3-0 in a weekend series vs. Alcorn State
..we need to keep it up, the competition gets tougher (Alcorn was 16-41 last season with RPI 291 out of 298 )

Bradley rallies and beats UALR again to run their record to 5-1..

    Some bright spots-

**Freshman 3rd baseman from Metamora, Spencer Gaa was hitting .421 going into this afternoon's game, also drawing six walks and committing only one error thus far.

**two other BU players are hitting over .400 and eight of the starters are hitting over .300. Team BA is .314 - I know it's not gonna last but nice so far.

**Greg Partyka & Tyler Leffler have 12 & 8 RBI respectively -- combining for over 3 RBI each game between the two of them.

**of the five guys who have pitched the most - four of them have an ERA under 3.50

**our pitchers have a ratio of 55 K's thus far to 16 walks.

Things do get a little tougher as now BU heads to play Xavier, APU, Dayton, Wright State, and SLU before returning to play in-state

The Bradley baseball teams continues with their winning ways, scoring 13 runs in the last 3 innings to beat Xavier 15-5 at a tournament at Clarksville, Tennessee. Tyler Leffler continues his hot start with 3 hits and 5 runs scored. For the season Tyler is hitting .423, has a slugging % of .731 and an on base % of .605. For the season BU is batting .314 and averaging 6.6 runs a game while the pitching staff has a 3.41 ERA and holding teams to a .225 batting average. Today they play both Dayton and the hosts school Austin Peay. The Braves have 5 more road games until their home opener on March 15, a doubleheader against NIU. Keep up the good work boys.

Bradley baseball looks good in the early going - we are 7-2 and this, I think, proves again that we have very good talent
We had players last year who were among the NATION's leaders...
ST. LOUIS ? Bradley senior outfielder Mike Tauchman has been named the 2013 Joe Carter MVC Player of the Year, according to a vote of the league's eight head coaches announced Monday afternoon.

so we ought to have a better season in the MVC this year - no excuses....

BU Baseball was off to a great start...going 13-3 against the non-conference opponents...but Bradley baseball started MVC play yesterday and got swept in a doubleheader.. by Illinois State .. combined score 20-7...
            BU starts MVC play 0-2

A similar thing happened last year - BU won 15 games against non-conference opponents - then won only 2 more the entire rest of the season against MVC foes, as they went just 2-19 in Missouri Valley conference play. Let's hope we don't see a replay.

Now that the conference season has begun, Bradley seems to be a different team...

BU was 14-3 but have gone 1-5 (Dallas Baptist sweeping their first ever MVC series) to put Bradley into 10th place in the MVC

Bradley has good players - note the MVC baseball stats...
BU is batting .300 as a team - and Bradley guys dominate the individual stats... (LINK
..same last year when Bradley had some of the best hitters in the MVC -
we ought to be finishing better in the MVC....there's still time this year..

The Bradley Baseball season ended three weeks ago, but outfielder Mike Tauchman is still making history for the Braves.

They made at least one good play: Saturday evening's top ten plays on Saturday featured a diving play by our shortstop. It was number 3 or 4 I think, but I am having trouble finding the video tonight.
                    Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

Bradley has a big 3-game weekend series with Missouri State. They also started a season-long 9-game home stand today. But they got off to a bad start with a 6-5 loss today.
PEORIA, Ill. -- Missouri State had not recorded a hit since one out in the second inning, but the Bears strung together four straight 2-out hits in the 9th to rally for a 6-5 win at Bradley Friday.

After a nice start to the season , Bradley baseball has now lost 7 of their last 9 games to fall to 3-7 in the MVC and 17-12 overall. They play again Saturday and Sunday nights.

Why are they dropping lower as the season goes on? Shouldn't all the work they do with the coaches and staff make them better as the season goes on?

Last year they lost 19 of their last 25 games.

Because they aren't playing cupcakes like they did in the non-conference schedule:
