  • Bears win!

Great win by the Bears today! 23-20 in overtime. Nice job by Josh McKown. The Bears go to 6-4 and into a tie with the Lions for 1st place in the NFC North.

Now I can focus on the BU-Illinois game!

They're back, and I don't mean the Bears. Lions still have the tie breaker.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Ya, as of this morning, the Bears would lose all tie-breakers to wild card contenders, including the Lions to whom they've lost twice. Good news is that Lance Briggs should return in two weeks and Detroit is....well, Detroit.

Which, I guess, is my point. Detroit is a very good team who is capable of beating mediocre teams (like the Bears)...then, they Detroit on themselves like they did last Sunday.

Detroit is "very good", but the Bears are "mediocre"?

Don't they have the exact same record?
I would say that it is debatable that the Lions are the better team.

I think we can all agree that Detroit has a terrific offense and an incredible defensive line (though they aren't completely healthy - Ansah) compared to a middle of the road Bears offense and a declining-aging defense that isn't effective when they're not getting turnovers. Power ratings aside, Detroit is a better team imo. However...they're not the most cerebral team in the league...players or coaches. AND, when Aaron Rodgers is healthy this discussion is moot because GB is the best team in the conference.

Remember the Bears are making a run minus 7 starters!

They're not the only team without starters.

The Bears signed another player- this time OT Joe Long, a 6'5", 304 pound offensive tackle off the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. He was signed to a 2 year contract suggesting the Bears may think he has potential to stick with the team. He is a brother of Rams OT Jake Long, but not related to Bears OG Kyle Long or Rams DE Chris Long.

Aaron Rodgers still not ready for return this week-
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not received medical clearance to return from a broken collarbone and will miss his seventh straight game, coach Mike McCarthy announced Friday.

Somehow I have a suspicion he'll recover well enough to play a week from Sunday against the Bears.

Bears lose but that's OK - we still have 3 more years that we can blame it all on Lovie
