Aaron Rodgers to miss several weeks with fractured collarbone

Aaron Rodgers was injured early in the Bears 27-20 win at Green Bay last night. Though most news outlets are still saying there is "no exact diagnosis", a few reports are emerging this morning that he has a fractured collarbone.

ESPN is now reporting it is a "small fracture of the left collarbone", and the Packers expect him to miss 3-4 weeks.

Here is an interesting scenario- If the Packers need to sign another quarterback, there is speculation they may be interested in Matt Flynn. He was a backup to Aaron Rodgers at Green Bay for 4 years before spending the last 1 1/2 years bouncing around with 3 other teams.
But Flynn was just waived by the Buffalo Bills yesterday, and because he is very familiar with the Green Bay offensive system, it may make sense for the Packers to claim him.
However, the NFL waiver rules allow any team to claim Flynn and his contract. It would be possible for a team like the Bears or the Lions (who are all tied at 5-3 atop the NFL North Conference) to file a claim just to try to block Flynn from going to the Packers.

Honestly, as good as GBs running game has been, they could realistically win 2 or 3 games without Rodgers. The key will be their defense. If Detroit wins next week against the Bears, looks like they'll be in the drivers seat for sure.

What if the Bears win? Will they be in the drivers seat?
After the Detroit game in Soldier Field next Sunday, the Bears' schedule gets a little easy until the final game of the season at home against Green Bay.

Note that other than Detroit next Sunday (5-3) & Green Bay (5-3) on the final day, Dallas at 5-4 is the only team that does not have a losing record among all the remaining games on the Bears' schedule.

Honestly, as good as GBs running game has been, they could realistically win 2 or 3 games without Rodgers. The key will be their defense. If Detroit wins next week against the Bears, looks like they'll be in the drivers seat for sure.

As good as their running game has been they still decided to have Wallace passing when they had first and goal from the 6. Announcers had just said they were averaging 6 yards per carry so far in the game. I think the Bears are in the drivers seat now. No tough games on the road and the only tough games left are at home. Overall IMO the conference is pretty weak right now.

I'm surprised they didn't have his arm in a sling if it was a possible fracture. Must have been pretty minor.

Flynn is damaged goods with elbow tendinitis he developed in Seattle. I don't see him rejoining the Packers despite the history.

No sling for Rodgers was interesting, but he also never pulled his arm out of his sweatshirt pocket when he returned, so in effect, he had it immobilized in a sling.

The Packers, desperate for more depth at quarterback after injuries to Aaron Rodgers and Seneca Wallace have left them with just one healthy quarterback, third stringer Scott Tolzien, will reportedly sign Matt Flynn.

I thought the packers would lose to the Eagles and I think they will lose to an improved Giants team too who have won 3 in a row....

I'm glad they signed Flynn....he knows most of the players and the offense...he started 2 games for the Pack and did well in both.
