Just when you may have thought you've seen every type of strange play in NCAA football that there is, here is one you might never have seen before.
Eastern Kentucky has the ball 4th down and 4 yards to go, and they line up to punt the ball. But instead of a normal punt, the punter kicks the ball short and rugby style to a wide receiver who remains behind the line of scrimmage. The receiver then runs for a 1st down. This is a legal play as long as the ball is caught behind the line of scrimmage, which it was ruled to have been (though it is very close).
