Wessler: Peoria Stadium returns to glory days ??” at least for one night
My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

a lot of communities would love to have such a facility....

much of Central IL is jealous of the facility over at EastSide..
many local high school baseball and soccer teams have travel miles to find a place to play...
Aren't the people in Peoria sick & tired of getting beat out by East Peoria & Morton when it comes to building or maintaining sports facilities that people will pay to come & use?

So why can't the city of Peoria do just a little bit with that War Memorial Drive facility, upgrade at least one baseball field, build a soccer field that isn't a comedy, and make the facility worthwhile?
I just drove thru there this past week and at least 50% of the property the Park District owns there is wasteland - sitting unused and overgrown with weeds - some of it is even being used to accumulate mulch piles and store downed tree branches! What a waste - whoever is in charge of it should be ashamed.
