as many know - a few years back UNI dropped baseball in a cost cutting move -
their head baseball coach Rick Heller became a hot commodity - even was at one time the top consideration to be hired at BU five years ago...
But he landed at Indiana State where he immediately turned them into an MVC Baseball powerhouse...
In his first year there he went 35-19 - InSU's best season since 97-98...
Then last year he went 41-19, one of their best years ever and earning an NCAA bid.
Then this year his accomplishments must have impressed the folks at Iowa - as they hired him from a huge pool of over 80 candidates for the Big Ten spot.
Indiana State has hired his replacement..
