Bradley not looking good in their opening game in the 2013 MVC baseball tournament-

    MVC Tournament Central-
Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

The preliminary round is a double elimination format, so Bradley will play at least 1 more game.

Bradley loses by mercy rule 11-1 but an interesting factor was that four players for BU were not playing due to suspension.
The story in the paper made very little of it, but it was a key factor if your #1 pitcher and your starting SS & 2B were sitting out.
Explanation was given as "violation of team rules" - "an incident...last weekend" and the four players are suspended the rest of the season.

Here's the paragraph from the Pantagraph who had the most info-
    "Bradley suspensions:
Four key Bradley players have been suspended for the remainder of the season
after a recent incident, it was announced shortly before the Braves took on
Illinois State in the final first-round game Tuesday.

Suspended for Bradley are starting pitcher David Koll, reliever Stephen Toma
and starting middle infielders Tyler Leffler and Nolan Sponsler. Leffler is the Braves’
third leading hitter at .311, while Koll has started 12 games."

      Wow. Renegade program?
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

four basketball players, mostly starters were suspended earlier this past season and very little was made of that as well...
I will leave the discipline, as always, to the coaches & staff and they are clearly putting discipline above winning-at-all-costs as this recent example shows.

Maybe they celebrated too much after their 2nd conference win.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

The Bradley-Evansville game was scheduled to have started by now, but there is nothing on Live Stats yet- possible delay?

Another horrible finish for Bradley baseball- Bradley lead 3-1 going into the bottom of the 9th inning, but gave up a walkoff 3-run homer and lost 4-3 to Evansville. They finish 17-32, and they lost 19 of their last 20 MVC games.-

you have to go back to the mid-70's to find a season where we won any fewer than 17 games but it's now happened twice in the past 5 years..
but even then - when we won only 16 in 76-77 we played fewer games overall - we still didn't lose 30+ games..
but now we've lost 30+ in FOUR of the five seasons since Dewey Kalmer left...

The baseball team has not been playing at a competitive level for years now.

This is unacceptable given AD Cross' desire to attain competitiveness in all sports and boost the entire program's reputation. This is one BU sport in which change is necessary.

ISU will be playing Saturday for the MVC Championship - and local product Chris Razo (IVC HS) will be going on just 3 days rest

ISU head coach Mark Kingston has led the Redbirds to a 39 win season and a win Saturday will put them at 40 - a remarkable accomplishment...
..something that ISU has done only once in their history - almost 40 years ago...
Kingston has also averaged 35 wins per year in the four years he's been at ISU...
Bradley won 40 games multiple times under Dewey Kalmer..
