Breaking Bears news - 2011 1st round pick (29th pick overall) OT Gabe Carimi was traded to Tampa Bay tonight for a 6th round pick next year.
The Chicago Bears have traded 2011 first round draft choice offensive lineman Gabe Carimi to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a source familiar with the situation confirmed Sunday night.

Carimi never made much progress since he was drafted 2 years ago and spent most of his time with the Bears injured. The final straw appeared to be his skipping the voluntary Offseason Team Activities the team hosted last week, coupled with several free agent and draft moves the team made this spring to bolster their offensive line.

Carimi knew exactly what he was doing when he skipped the "voluntary" OTAs. He was surely miffed that the new head coach projected him exclusively to Guard....exactly where they project their latest first rounder, Long....and also where they signed free agent Matt Slauson. This is called hand-writing on the wall. Out goes Carimi to be a back-up in Tampa.

I bet Carimi steps up his play in Tampa because he's reunited with his OL coach from UW, Bob Bostad.

And the Bears will also evaluate the possibility of signing free agent defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis. He was the #7 overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft by New Orleans, but has underachieved in his 5 year NFL career.-
Should be a perfect fit for the Bears... hee hee hee

Urlacher isn't the most articulate guy in the world. It'll be interesting to see how that goes at FOX.

Will be interesting to see. Many of the ex-players who populate those studio NFL shows aren't very articulate, but they usually are good entertainment, and have insight.
