Bears also grab a backup Quarterback on the opening day of free agency........ Jason Campbell. He has to better than Todd Collins and Caleb Hanie, so this deal works for me.

Doesn't look like the Bears will be adding Mario Williams though. The Buffalo Bills expect to sign Mario Williams and former Saints wide receiver Robert Meachem soon.Comment

That was a nice day for the Bears. They upgraded two of their most weakest positions (WR and back-up QB). I'd love an upgrade at O-line as well.

That explains why the price was so low. Marshall definitely has issues off the field, but it looked like he was doing better in Miami. It's still probably a good deal if he doesn't get suspended for too long. It's been reported that the Bears knew about this incident before they made the trade for Marshall.
The Bears aren't done yet- they just signed another wide receiver/special teams stud Eric Weems from the Atlanta Falcons. He was an All Pro in 2010 as a special teams guy, but is a decent wide receiver. He has also been a good return guy in his career-
I like this move. I do not believe Johnny Knox will be able to return this year to anywhere near his former ability and this gives the Bears some insurance at WR.
New Bears GM Phil Emery who previously was the director of college scouting for the Atlanta Falcons, so he was obviously familiar with Weems.Comment
