  • Tebow time!!!

I'm sure some of you just saw one of the more improbable playoff wins in quite awhile as Tim Tebow actually opened things up tonight as Denver upsets Pittsburgh 29-23 in maybe one of the shortest NFL overtime games of all time, capped off by Tebow's 80 yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas at the start of the overtime!

It leads me to wonder why Denver plays such a conservative offense. This reminds me of the Martz "let's manage the game" offense installed for Caleb Hanie! Maybe Martz and the Bears would still be around if he let his backup quarterbacks pass the ball more!

Tebow is a phenomenon...can't explain it, won't last, but awesome to watch!

Because John Fox was smart enough to realize that Tebow is not a very good pro quarterback who would fail in a west coast offense. Denver's defense is the strength of the team and Fox also realized that all he needs is a quarterback to manage the game by not making mistakes. Fox basically installed the Florida offense that Tebow was used to and we have seen the results. I know that the current rules favor the passing game, but what amazes me is that NFL defensive coordinators have not adapted and devised a scheme to stop Tebow.

That's fine. But I think Tebow showed today that the offense does not always have to consist of 90% running plays and five passes per game. He opened things up more today, and the results spoke for themselves.

Since we all cant get enough of Timmy Tebow I will share this.Tebow's favorite bible verse is John 3:16...Tebow just happened to pass for 316 yards today...he also completed just 10 passes which comes out to...you guessed it 31.6 yards per completion...

            OMG!

Steelers couldn't stop Tebow, they couldn't even contain him.

Tebow played well but the announcers couldn't resist the repeated comments about how bad his quarterback rating is or how poor his completion pct is or how many of his wins were more luck than ability...

Think back to ...October 11 when Denver announced Tim Tebow will replace Kyle Orton as starter -- the Broncos were 1-4 and playoff hopes were non-existent...
Even in that 4th loss - Tebow replaced Orton late in the 2nd half trailing the Chargers 23-10 and he almost engineered a tremendous comback - losing 29-24 as a potential game-winning TD pass just missed at the final gun..

But at that very time - the media slammed that decision and said Tebow was terrible and not ready to play in the NFL -- all the while the fans cheered the move wildly!!
Then November 22 - just seven weeks ago -- Denver must have come to agree with fans and cut Orton loose.
Give Tebow the credit he deserves - he is a leader..and if he can pull off a win next week against New England - let's see how the media spins that??

Tebow did not do well against the Pats - but a lot of his incompletions were right on the receivers' hands - and no matter how good he might have been - if his defense gave up 35 1st half points - then even Johnny Unitas wouldn't have done any better

Uhmmmmm..... An 85 year old Y.A. Tittle is a more accurate passer and has better mechanics than Tebow!

Tebow does remind me of Bobby Douglass - who many won't recall but despite his unorthodox style still got things done at times...

other people seem to see the same similarities...
