  • Santo to the Hall Of fame

My day was just made. A friend of mine just called to tell me Ron will be inducted to the HOF. Ron was my childhood hero. Wish he could of made it last year but, he is kicking his heels in heaven today. SOOOOOO deserving SOOOOOOO long to get there. What a great day to be a Cub fan.

A tremendous honor for Ron Santo and his family...
yet sad that it didn't come in time for Ron to see it before his passing
Ron Santo wanted this day for so long, and now that it’s finally here, he isn’t. The Hall of Fame call, the one he waited for and agonized over pretty much his entire adult life, came on Monday, but he’s no longer with us to answer the phone and hear this: “Ronnie, welcome to the Hall of Fame.

This made my day as well! Only the 11th third baseman to be enshrined into the Hall of Fame!

BTW, due to the new format, I am pretty certain that Santo was not on the ballot last year.
      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Absolute travesty. To know how much it meant to him, and to only vote for him after he has died, is totally cruel.

In my opinion, it would have been less cruel to never let him in at all.
