  • Cardinals eliminated from Division Race- win World Series.

Even though the 2006 team was a worse team, this year's run seemed much more inexplicable. They beat the team with the most wins in baseball and the two times tied with the third most wins in all of baseball.

They survived the biggest fiasco that has hit the World Series in a long time. Be it a phone problem or a senior moment by LaRussa, that was a devistating mistake. They twice score when down to their last strike, take place in what is considered by some the craziest World Series game ever in game 6. Their best player makes history with 3 home runs in one game.

Probably the craziest of all things, they win it all without their best pitcher, Wainwright, in a year where pitching dominated, when overall offense in the league was at a two decade low. Yet again, Duncan and LaRussa work some serious magic to win it.

To me, even though I enjoyed this run more then just about any other experience sports wise ever, I kept thinking in the back of my head:

Won't next year's Cardinals be better?

I never thought Pujols would leave, so I would imagine he would have a "bounce back" year, Freese and Craig would get a lot more playing time, we'd get Wainwright back, and we'll have a closer, Motte.

But then again, just because they may be better next year doesn't mean they'll win it next year.

I think they will be better if AP signs.

Great lineup. plus Salas, Motte, Lynn, Sanchez, and Rzep... that is a great bullpen.

Then Wain obv. and our starters couldn't possibly do anyworse.

After low ratings for the earlier games, game 7 of the World Series got very good ratings- the best since 2004-

Disagree... It depends on how much AP breaks the Cardinals bank! IMO, the Cardinals GM isn't going have the flexibility to make moves like he did this year. And.... some of the Cardinal pitchers are starting to creep up there in the age department. Anything that Wainwright contributes will be a bonus next year as well...

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
