  • World Series Game 6

What needs to be said? Discuss!
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!

Im only 27 years old so it might not mean as much as an older fans opinion, but that was the greatest final three innings I have ever seen. I wont say greatest game because the first 8 innings were just ugly. So excited for tomorrow. NEVER SAY DIE!

Unreal! One of the worst played and greatest comebacks in World Series history. I hope STL goes on to take game 7 in the same way the Royals did back in 1985. After KC came back and won game 6, with the help of "The Call" (Don Dekinger), they went on to destroy Joaquin Andujar and the flat Cardinals. The Rangers could very well be down tomorrow after losing a game the Cardinals tried many times to give to them.

        I didn't see the game....was it extraordinary?

OK.. I did and my Jaw hurts from screaming too loud.

If the Cardinals can pull it off tomorrow night...this game will be remembered forever, it should blow away Fisk's HR which is iconic.

Funny thing is....Freese hit the HR, but I was so amped up I like expected it? It hasn't really sunk in that it was a walk-off HR...

If there happens to be a walk-off tomorrow does that justify rushing the field and patting the guy on the back as he runs the bases?

It was a fantastic, entertaining game. Too bad there aren't many watching this series. Friday's game should have a bigger audience.

Probably the worst-played World Series game I've ever seen ... but I'll take it!

On the plus side, Tony will now HAVE TO start Craig in left field.

This is will be considered an epic World Series game... That being said, the game had poor pitching and defense. This has to be one of the worst series that I have seen from Tony Larussa as well.

19.6 million people watch last nights game. That's a great rating for a game that:
                      1. Doesn't involve the Yankees
                      2. Doesn't involve the Red Sox
                      3. Isn't a game 7.

Expect ratings to be in the high twenties for tonight's game.

if a west coast team was involved would they atler the start time to be like 6 PM there? or make it 8 on the east cost like normal?

5 pm seems a little early to me and I would probably be napping

It was indeed a very entertaining series - I watched because it was filled with unexpected moves and oddities...and because TV offers very little else worth viewing now that Keith Olbermann is gone...

But.... could it be that we are playing way too deep into the fall?

...and colder temps, plus the effects of almost 200 games played since spring are taking their toll on players, umpires, managers alike...at times I thought I was watching a Little League game with all the bad plays and errors.

This might forever be known as the series everyone tried to give away but couldn't...there were of course umpiring mistakes - but oddly none of them actually cost anyone significantly...

But the sheer number of bad plays, errors, bonehead mistakes, lame excuses...
fumbled easy grounders and pop-ups, stupid baserunning mistakes, getting picked off base in critical situations, missed cutoff man, bad bunts into DP's, poor fielding - soft grounders with easy plays at the plate where the throw isn't within 15 feet, passed balls, fouled up hit-and-run plays, walks -- really critical, devastating walks & hit batsmen, and even blown communication on what players should be on the field....this series had it all - at least all the bad parts of baseball - and really only one game where there was a lot of good offense.

But outside of St. Louis & Dallas area - this series produced terrible TV ratings that were...
"the second lowest since the Nielsen ratings started tracking the Series in 1984...and
barely ahead of last year's Rangers-Giants World Series, which produced an all-time ratings low." - per USA Today

Had this series been up north like Detroit, Milwaukee, Cleveland - or on the east coast where temperatures have been in the 30's and even high 20's - I'll bet someone would be talking about how silly it is to play eight months from Feb. to Oct. in warm weather then we decide who is the Champion in terrible, near-freezing rain & 30 degree weather.
Hideous weather should be a Superbowl deciding factor not a World Series factor -
which is exactly what one St. Louis writer said.

"This is baseball’s signature moment, when the nation and world are looking at the sport,
yet it feels like amateur hour. How can a big-time sports league allow its signature game to be so utterly mishandled?

The desire for baseball and Fox to put this game on in the evening instead of during the day,
in late October, in tough weather states like Michigan and Missouri of all places, is unbelievably foolhardy.

Baseball believes night games enhance ratings. Normally, that might be true. The tradeoff is
highly tuned athletes participating in a finesse sport not meant to be played in the chill suddenly, ahem, go cold."

First off, Olbermann is on Current TV and I am glad that you agree that Keith has a quality show!

Secondly, MLB needs to get away from FOX for their baseball broadcasts. Their announcers and the production of the MLB product is B-R-U-T-A-L! (that's five letters if you are Tim McCarver)

Thirdly, I really don't know what anyone is going to expect from a ratings standpoint when both coasts are out of the Series. I doubt that daytime broadcasts are going to improve ratings... That being said, aside from the years when the Yankees were in the World Series, I have stayed way from the broadcasts until this playoff season.

Lastly, I doubt that the number of games has anything to do with the product on the field. I attribute the talent dilution to the expansion that has taken place over the past 20 or so years.
